emotional or intellectual energy or intensity, especially as revealed in a work of art or an artistic performance. I have not followed the careers of all the members of Genesis, but I followed Gabriel in his early years and I would say he had quite a bit of 'soul' in those days. There was, on the political side, Biko and, on the personal side, Solsbury Hill, for example. He also started Real World to give artists from the Third World a break. I would say his songs and actions showed considerable 'emotional or intellectual energy'

Thanks. Also, look into the history of the impact that early rock had on Peter and Phil for that matter. The beauty of prog Genesis is the emotion constructed with symphonic exctasy. The term neo-prog really launched in the 80’s to describe Genesis like emotion, without the symphonic or instrumental complexity of 70’s prog.

Gabriel remarked of his early influences, "Hymns played quite a large part. They were the closest I came to soul music before I discovered soul music. There are certain hymns that you can scream your lungs out on, and I used to love that. It was great when you used to get the old shivers down the back."

    A review of the reissue:

Any reason to get this new reissue CD? Better sound? Nicer packaging? I already have both of the original US and UK CD versions from decades ago.

I read the transcript of this release and the comments, on YouTube. No definitive opinions

I believe its just a straight reissue because it was out of print. No remixing or remastering sadly.

There is absolutely nothing different about it whatsoever apart from a different label's logo on the back cover and an updated copyright date. Even the misspelling (of Dave Hentschel's name) was carried over.
