New Biosphere/Deathprod (!) collab on Touch, out this month

    Called Stator: http://touch33.net/news/to99_biosphe...d_stato_1.html

Deathprod is Helge Sten of Supersilent, doing his audio virus thing. He also has production credits with Motorpsycho and a slew of other Rune Grammofon releases. Biosphere is Geir Jensson of Bel Canto...his albums on Touch are generally stellar ambient micro-masterpieces (IMHO).

Should be of interest to a handful of folks on here...happy hunting!

If you're actually reading this then chances are you already have my last album but if NOT and you're curious:

Also, Ephemeral Sun: it's a thing and we like making things that might be your thing: https://ephemeralsun.bandcamp.com

Geir Jensson was in Bel Canto, before Biosphere, so you could say Biosphere is Geir Jenssen from Bel Canto.

Oh yeah! I forgot about Bel Canto...not sure they'd be any more/less familiar to folks on here but a valid point. Editing now

Sure, although Biosphere are way better known on his/their own accord than with Bel Canto.

Helge Sten is married to Susanna Wallumrød, btw - the most extraordinary of all Norwegian songstresses. Lucky bastard.

Oh wow, Susanna is awesome...had no idea they were all sorts of spousal. VERY lucky bastard.

Sten's album 'Treetop Drive' is one of the best ambient-type albums I've ever heard...I can't NOT think of Bergman's Seventh Seal whenever I hear it, for some reason.

I only have 3 Bel Canto albums. No Biosphere though.

Maja Ratkje isn't too shabby either.

Thanks for this update. I was hooked on Biosphere ever since "Substrata" was released.

    Happy to help, folks!

For those who also like older Biosphere, I happened across this little nugget on his site:

    http://www.biosphere.no/microgravity-pre-order.html

Looks like a 2-disc reissue of Microgravity. Should be fun too. For my money, Substrata is still his high point...amazingly gorgeous and melancholy music. And I still hold out hopes for a release of his Trinity collab with Lustmord at some point...

Oh, but she's a composer - BIG difference!

A few years back, a friend of mine who's a composer as well was at the annual Christmas gathering of the Composer's union at Nesodden, a semi-island right outside of Oslo known for its artist colony (where he lives). Being most curious about (and attracted to) Ratkje, he "accidentally" spilled some white wine on her in order to gain a momentum for conversation - at which she instinctively smiled and stated that she had that sort of thing happening to her all the time, and promptly asked him what it was he wanted to know? Of course, the dude didn't dare to utter a single word before hurrying for some cloth for her to clean herself up with. No report to be had.

Love all Deathprod albums. Especially their collaboration with Origami Arktika (The Symbasic Structure For The Concrete / Challenge Trilogy Pt. 3: Lat Att Grinda) is stellar! And I'm a fan of early Biosphere's works up to 2004. The coupling of the remastered Substrata with Man With a Movie Camera is a must own for anyone having a remote -at leat- interest in electronic music.

Both artists had a previous cross-collaboration in 1998 on the Nordheim Transformed album, when one used source material of the other.

Yeah, Nordheim Transformed is great. I also really liked Deathprod's collab with On (Stephen Hess & Sylvain Chauveau), which to my ears was in the same territory as Morals & Dogma.

I actually had never even heard of the collab between Origami Arktika before...looks interesting (a tad hard to track down though). Thanks for the tip!
