    Buddha Machine

    Anyone got one of these?

I've got a Series 3 one (they just released Series 4) and have used it on a couple of recordings - just randomly warbling away in a lo-fi way in the background. Surprisingly atmospheric.

Someone I know has 6 of them. We're thinking of doing a Buddha Machine Flashmob - turn up in a boring local pub one afternoon and switch them all on.

funny, this has been hanging onto the lower rungs of my want list for years. maybe it's time to pony up and get one.

The sound quality is bad, but there's something endearing about them.

it's the lo-fi aspect that makes them desirable

If you do this, please take a camera with you and post it to Youtube!

I have two of the second generation Buddhas and recently picked up a 4. I first looked at them as somewhat of a novelty but I've been using them quite a bit in recordings. The get together sounds really cool; if I lived over there I would definitely be up for it.

Here's a recent recording I made incorporating the Buddha Machine II:
