Well of course it's a much smaller scale, but David Frain has done the artwork for 5 of the 7 Farpoint albums, as well as a cool animation we used to open live performances back in the COLD STAR QUIET STAR era. Plus, we contributed music to the opening and closing sections of his CGI movie, LIGHT SPEED DREAMING.

"Hipgnosis", actually. They did tons of covers in the 70s including The Lamb up through No Hackett Required (also known as And Then There Were Three) and stuff for UFO, Sabbath's Technical Ecstasy, and the most revolting/hilarious cover of all time, Scorpion's Animal Magnetism, along with what may be the greatest album package of all time, 10cc's How Dare You.

I would say that Lovedrive by the same team tops it in the revolting/hilarious (and misogynistic) stakes.

The Swiss band Island had released just one studio album ("Pictures", 1977) and one posthumous, archival release ("Pyrrho", 2005), but as both were illustrated by their compatriot H.R. Giger, let's mention that as well.

    There's also Svetonio/YouTube.

This is genius. Why have I never heard it before?

Why thank you! I thought of it years ago and have only used it in my small circle of friends. :-)

One of my other very obscure howlers is a proposed sequel to Camel's Nude, about what happens to the real-life inspiration of the album, Hiroo Onoda, after he returns to Japan after 40 years fighting a long-over WWII.

It would be called "Nude 2: Onodagain".

East / József Szurcsik (first five albums); Bijelo Dugme / Dragan S. Stefanović (first three albums).

But as a recent and really Yes/R.Dean-like, that is Fragile / Steven Mayerson:

Jade Warrior and Eckford Stimpson collaborated for four consecutive albums on Island Records:
Floating World, Waves, Kites & Way Of The Sun.
These four covers are similar and made [make] a strong pairing with the music.
Very happy to see Maja Weber and Eberhard, Ozric Tentacles and Blim as well as Heung-Heung Chin all mentioned.

A famous writer <cough-cough > once published this:

Cover Art And Cover Artists - A Discussion With 5 Of Best
    (A 3-part interview series.)

    https://www.seaoftranquility.org/article.php?sid=370

    https://www.seaoftranquility.org/article.php?sid=390

    https://www.seaoftranquility.org/article.php?sid=401

    The artists who were interviewed:
    • Mark Wilkinson - Initially famous for his elaborately detailed covers of Marillion's early CDs, England's Mark Wilkinson is still very active today - working with bands like Satellite, Judas Priest and Iron Maiden.
    • Mattias Noren - From Arena and Ayreon to Winterlong and Wolverine, Sweden's Mattias Noren has become one of today's most successful progressive and metal cover artists.
    • Travis Smith - Californian Travis Smith is best known for his covers of heavy metal acts like Opeth, Anathema, Demons & Wizards, Iced Earth and Riverside. In keeping with the heavier genres of music he covers, his work is often dark and introspective.
    • Marc Klinnert - German-born Marc Klinnert and his wife / business partner Gaby live on Australia's Gold Coast. Their cover art includes Rhapsody and AINA, and their efforts are evenly divided between cover art and lifesized sculptures.
    • Rodney Matthews - For three decades Englishman Rodney Matthews has published sci-fi and fantasy creations on record covers, books, posters, calendars, video games and on TV. His cover art graces albums by Asia, Rick Wakeman, Barclay James Harvest, Uriah Heap and Thin Lizzy.
    Regards,

    Duncan

It's really cool when you see the results of a collaboration like this; Argos / Bernd Webler:

John Dyer Baizley is an illustrator and musician based in Savannah, Georgia. He is notable for his album-cover art for bands including Kylesa, Vitamin X, The Famine, Darkest Hour, Daughters, Skeletonwitch, Black Tusk, as well as his own band, Baroness, for which he is the singer and rhythm guitarist:

We went to the Giger Museum in Gruyères SW in 2017. Cool stuff and beautiful town (but busy).
