Reid Miles was an artist/photographer/graphic artist who did the cover art for many records on the Blue Note label in the 50's and early/mid 60's.

Let us not forget Pink Floyd and Storm Thorgerson! They may have had a stronger association that Yes and Dean in the long run. And Rush and Hugh Syme. Photographic artists count!

These are very nice. I actually prefer Wenske to Dean or Woodruffe etc.

One of the greatest covers Storm T. ever did was the Quatermass, I think.

How many Neal Morse albums has our own afore-mentioned Man in the Mountain done the cover chores for?

To be honest I lost track. I would have to go through my archives and organize and count them. I've done a lot for his Inner Circle releases which most are rather quickie type pieces on a low budget. I also handle the majority of the live CD/DVD releases he puts out, and some of his non-prog releases. A lot those are graphic layouts, rather than "artwork". I have been working with him since his Spock's days, 16 years now.

Thomas Ewerhard from Inside/Out does most of his big prog album art, except for Momentum, which was mine. I am a very big admirer of Ewerhard's work, and he is hugely ignored when people talk about cover artists. It was his work that first inspired me to have a go at it myself.

Though I wouldn't say Ewerhard or myself are like Roger Dean is to YES. Dean works completely differently, in that he does not make his artwork to illustrate a specific theme of an album. He just paints his Roger Dean World, and it gets slapped on a YES album. Thus making everything YES related look like Roger Dean. When we work with Neal, we very much look at lyrics and ideas, and make the artwork unique to the given project. For Momentum, showing the hand of God spinning the Earth. That's not something I would create for myself. That's Neal's world which I bring to life. You would be very hard-pressed to know who did a cover like that for Neal, me or Ewerhard.

What I did for Pinnacle, or Keith Emerson is more my own Man In The Mountain world.

John Zorn & Heung-Heung Chin. She has made the artwork for almost all of his releases (many many many). By the way, gorgeous artwork.

Yeah, but Barney Bubbles didn't work with Johnny Rotten, did he? Maybe it's just a media thing, but I always had the impression there was a contingency with the punk community who viewed bands like Hawkwind as "boring old farts".
