A Warning from the World Health Organization.

If you listen to music for more than one hour during the day,you are at risk of damaging your hearing in the future. This is according to the World Health Organization.I listen to music nearly every day for at least 2 hrs,and that's the absolute minimum! Would find it almost impossible to cut down to under an hour,as one album usually last at least 50 minutes anyway! Actually us prog fans fare pretty well,as many prog albums are in excess of one hour! Not sure if the WHO have heard of prog!

    who has heard of Prog
Why is it whenever someone mentions an artist that was clearly progressive (yet not the Symph weenie definition of Prog) do certain people feel compelled to snort "thats not Prog" like a whiny 5th grader?

Are they talking about people who listen with earbuds? I don't do earbuds. I listen with speakers.

In 1976, WHO held the Guinness record for the loudest band.

If they're not, this is kind of a silly story. Music is just sound, and there's no reason that music, played at moderate volume, would be any different from any other sound.

Yeah, what do they have against music? Why not just say "sound"? Unless there's also someone at the WHO who's pissed off about the loudness wars...

Yeah, well I fart in their general direction. I hope they hear that loud and clear and it damages both their ears and noses.

They obviously mean more than 1 hour a day with headphones, not speakers.

I probably already have hearing loss. I should listen to music with earplugs I suppose(I definitely do at concerts).

Their research is based on the average volume that people listen to music with earbuds.
I honestly believe many people listen at too high of a volume for daily recreational listening.

That's fine, but it should be made clear that it's not the music that is causing the hearing loss, but the volume.

I listen to music for at least 6 hours a day. It's brilliant now. I can't hear my wife moaning at me at all!
