AOR Big 5 - rapid fire.

Just a little test, if someone asks you to name 5 AOR bands quickly, what are the 5 you shout out? I want to see how similar our AOR Big 5 lists are. I have my 5 & regardless of responses here my list wont change.

Those would probably be my picks for arena rock but not AOR (at least not necessarily).

It's a term that was used to describe a certain sound. I think after the enormous success of Boston it was used to describe bands who could fill arenas who were typically hard rock but with catchy melodies and choruses. Journey is another good example. These were among the first bands to have multi platinum selling albums. Styx for example was the first band to have four consecutive multi platinum albums.

Yes, very similar. You could say all arena rock is AOR but not all AOR is arena rock.

Sounds like someone has a problem calling anything after Drama YES.

Well to me Bread would be more like soft rock but yeah I suppose they could be thrown in. That is if the band America can be tossed in too.

Really? I'd put them in with that Country-Rock sound like the Eagles, Poco, Ozark Mountain Daredevils, etc.

Yea but I think quite a few of them are AOR as well, especially Poco, Loggins & Messina, late period Eagles.
