A poor man's KISS
A poor man's KISS
Like I said in my first post when I started this thread, I had Dr.Feelgood and I thought it sucked. Maybe I need to listen to it again with a fresh set of ears, but I honestly thought it was crap. Yeah that Beatles bit, the title track, and maybe Kickstart My Heart were the only memorable tracks but I seem to remember hearing horns (or fake horns using keyboards) on some tracks. I just couldn't help thinking how cornball the album sounded.
Well, one thing that does impress me about this band is that they obviously are Beatles fans, and Rock & Roll in general. They never really intended on being "heavy metal" but more of a slightly younger version of Aerosmith. That's really what they were, a heavier, raunchier version of Aerosmith.
Cannot stop listening to Girls, Girls, Girls. Hell of a Rock And Roll record. There's a short track titled "Nona" that sounds very Beatlesque with strings and all. Good album .
Outside of a couple of songs I'm not a fan. I tried too. I listened to a handful of their albums and it just didn't resonate with me so I moved on.

Anyone notice how horribly off key Vince Neil sounds on the song "Too Fast For Love?" God he's awful. I mean it's cringe inducing. What makes that song cool is: a) Mick Mars (I can't stop gushing about him. He put this band on his back and carried them), b) the snotty, cocky, attitude of the song, c) the gang chorus.
I've never been a fan of this type of rock, with very few exceptions. That said, one of those few exceptions is Maiden, who imo are so far ahead of everyone else it seems laughable to me that there's a debate??
Comparing the skills of Crue to Maiden is like comparing Benoit David to Jon A. imo.

Who is comparing Crue and Maiden? That's like comparing ELP to Renaissance.

I'm a sucker for the first two albums. I thought they were pretty great. After that it was hit and miss for me. Still - gotta love the crue.
