I saw The Kandinsky Effect last night in Toronto, at the Rex Hotel. A very fun show at one of Toronto's oldest and most storied jazz venues. There were close to 50 people in attendance, and ranged from young, musician-looking types, to older jazz fans, to people who just walked in to have a drink and a meal, on a Wednesday night. Other than me, I doubt there was a 'prog' fan in sight, which is a good thing.

These guys are young, talented and energetic, cut through many musical moods, and are well worth seeing. They sold a decent amount of merch, and I hope that this tour is very successful for them. I almost wish that I had seen the first show on Tuesday as well, as the drummer told me that they played a form of 'unplugged' show, as many of their effects pedals were delayed on a plane and had not arrived yet!

At $10, it was a great value. Go check 'em out, if you get the chance. Young, adventurous musicians like this, making quality, original live music, deserve the support.

Thanks Steve. To be honest, I know nothing about them. I'll go investigate!

Neil, I hope you dig 'em! Joel's a great guitarist and composer, although this project is very much geared towards his guitarwork and his 'roots'.

Here's a track off the album. If you dig this, you'll dig the show
