I was just thinking yesterday that with the exception of The Beatles and Abbey Road* I can't think of any other band whose last album before they split was their best; best IMO that is.
Because most bands, unlike The Beatles, don't split when they're at the top of their game and producing great albums Revolver, Sarge Pepp, Abbey Road.
*Let It Be although released after Abbey Road was recorded about a year before it, it only took so long to release 'cos of Spector's tinkering. So chronologically Abbey Road was their last creation.
