'Macarthur Park' seems to be one of those love-it-or-hate-it songs. I'm firmly in the former camp, the Richard Harris original is berserk but absolutely brilliant. Both Andy Williams and Frank Sinatra also covered it but the arrangements cut the opening few minutes completely, coming in halfway through the song (the ballad section)...Sinatra didn't even bother with the coda either. Williams did a better job but I wish he'd done the whole thing.

That's the really 'square' end of the spectrum though. As are all those ones who churned out supermarket-friendly covers of 'pops' of the day.

Allow me to add that that Percy Faith thing is the most amazing thing I’ve heard in a while! Bonus points for not being the bit from Tubular Bells everyone already knows.
