As an aside, I think it's a bit sad that much of the praise and criticism seems to be focused on the merit or otherwise of the video. Don't people just listen to music anymore, without requiring visual stimulation at the same time?

(raises hand) First off, having spent the first 20+ years of my life enjoying music immensely in the pre-video era, I've never understood the need for or ever really cared much about music videos. Precious few of them are actually any good, imho. Music is for the ears and does not need to be bundled with visuals to make its impact felt. The images we get are always going to be those chosen by someone else anyway. I don't really want to be told what to visualize. In every case, I'd MUCH prefer just hearing the music and letting it work its magic on my own fertile imagination, which has never failed to come up with great images. If I want to see the performer playing a particular song, I'll look at a concert video. Therefore, I don't see how "criticizing" this or any other video is causing any harm or hurting anything. It takes nothing away from the music itself, which as I just mentioned is all I ever care about. I only sat and watched this particular video so I could hear a new Steve Hackett song (and also because I was bored). I think the song itself is very good indeed. The rather cheesy imagery adds nothing (except cheese).

My sentiments, exactly. Bring on the music! Others, please enjoy both.

The lip-synching was very awkward, but the video didn't really bother me otherwise. There are few videos I find all that interesting anyway- most of them come from David Bowie, Peter Gabriel and Queen.

I'd love to see them try to collaborate again, knowing what they did wrong the first time, etc.
Huh. I love Steve's classical playing. Bay of Kings and Momentum are two of my faves of his.Originally Posted by JJ88

Music isn't about chops, or even about talent - it's about sound and the way that sound communicates to people. Mike Keneally
I should grant you that. I'm speaking more for myself and others, mainly of a certain age group, who got to know their music well before any visual medium was deemed crucial for getting it across. *I* personally don't require visuals and prefer not to have them. Plus, I did in fact respond to the imagery in that SH video since I mentioned I found it mostly cheesy (and more than a little embarrassing). It doesn't change the fact that I still like the song, though.

This album seems to be selling well, Number 37 on Amazon UK's overall music sales at the moment! Am pleased for Steve.

I did not think all those "worst album covers of all time" lists would get another entry in 2015, but holy cow

Finally watched the video for 'Wolflight'. Very cool. Both the music and the video. Well done!
Watched it at work. Crappy speakers. I didn't get the connection between the cave people & the song, certainly not the story line of what happened to the cave-guy.

And Steve's in at 21 in the midweeks:

His highest chart position for a new studio release (Genesis Revisited II aside) since, what, 'Highly Strung'? Sales aren't even remotely comparable these days, but still, it really looks like the Genesis Revisited project has raised his profile a great deal. He certainly wasn't making the Top 40 with his last few albums, or even close.
My mediabook copy just arrived in the mail here on the Left Coast of the USA this afternoon.
