Well, I have and enjoy the first four Tempel albums alot. But let's discuss Manuels Ashra and MG albums.. I do enjoy his guitartone and style of playing. Where to begin? Are his later stuff good as well? He is still active, I suppose?

Yeah, I've been hearing very positive words about that one, so that is on my shopping list. And the rest? I know he did a pair of live albums with Klaus Schulze as well
E2-E4? I trust you and write that one down as well Thanks!
^Damn, that's so good, it hurts! I wish Manuel and Edgar had recorded something together.
I think they're all pretty good. I started with Blackout, then got Inventions and New Age of Earth. And more, of course.
He's one of my fave electric guitarists; his early work makes me think of an anarchic saloon duel between Hendrix and Hillage, and actually the latter's Rainbow Dome was arguably an influence on the direction Göttsching took with Ashra.
"Improvisation is not an excuse for musical laziness" - Fred Frith
"[...] things that we never dreamed of doing in Crimson or in any band that I've been in," - Tony Levin speaking of SGM
Just so amazing and heartfelt, dropforge!! Truly something I must get asap! In fact, Edgar sort of led me towards exploring the music of Göttsching. So..Correlations and Belle Alliance will be ordered in a minute! With the others mentioned above. There are Plus versions of them, I figure those are the ones to get?
And, Göttsching really is among my favourite guitarists allready!
Those Japanese reissues are pricey. The Spalax reissues sound great and they're not too bad. Here's Belle Alliance for $20. http://www.amazon.com/Belle-Alliance...keywords=ashra
I give a hearty 2nd for E2-E4.
I've got a bike you can ride it if you like
Thanks alot everyone. Ordered on Amazon. Yeah, I know I will be in for some treat! It certainly would have been nothing short of amazing to have had a collaboration between Froese and Göttsching! A meeting between two giants! I just floated away listening to some stuff from 'Blackouts' on Youtube.. 'Midnight On Mars'... Well, I was floored actually!
A friend also just sent me mp3's of a live one from 1997, brilliantly called 'Sauce Hollandaise' Haven't heard it yet though. Happy times ahead!
^Good one! Also check out the live albums recorded in Japan called @shra.
I think I have everything he did from Inventions onward, they are all pretty awesome...
This one, New Age of Earth and Blackouts are all excellent. NAoE is one of my most-loved ambient albums of all time. IFEG is fascinating because it sounds electronic, but is all guitar; a technical marvel that’s also a wonderful listen.
Correlation(s) has some icky disco-oriented moments but also has some stuff that I really like. It’s more of a band-oriented release as is Belle Alliance. I don’t really know whether or not to recommend the latter; the A-side is pretty much a pure throwaway but the B-side is all A+ material.
Confirmed Bachelors: the dramedy hit of 1883...
Check out my concert videos on my youtube channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/broadaccent
You can buy it directly from Gottsching's website at http://www.ashra.com/shop/shop.htm too.
Some neat stuff on there I had not heard of... Such as:
ASHRA
Correlations Complete
(remastered version of the original CD, the 3CD Box "Making of" and the first unreleased mix of the album "Phantasus" by Manuel Göttsching and Udo Arndt)
The making of appears to be all the "jams" that the final cd was whittled down from. Anyone ever heard this?
What's "Friendship" like with Schulze and Gottsching, it's from 2000 apparently. Another one that sounds interesting is "Live At Mt. Fuji" recorded live in 2006.
"The wind is slowly tearing her apart"
Sad Rain
Anekdoten
I wonder the same. 'Friendship' sounds very interesting. Is it good? There's another one out there called 'Gin Rose', also with Schulze.
