Kickstarter allows them far greater control over this album/event than going through a label. They have a management and legal team behind them to look after the other bits of the project.

That's the kind of thing I suspect too.

Yeah, this appears to be nothing new for Jon. I love the man's creativity and spiritual vision, but he seems to flit from idea to idea, leaving a lot of promised projects half-done or never realized at all. There's not just the Igor-Jon project, but also the sequel to Olias, The Anderson-Rabin-Wakeman project, and who knows what else.

I didn't realize there were problems with the Ponty project, but I can't say I'm surprised. All this, after Jon walked away from Michael Lewis and the Inventioning project, leaving Lewis to wonder what had happened (at least judging by his Facebook posts at the time).

I'm just glad to see that downbytheriver melted down in record time rather than fouling up the joint with his bullshit for a few weeks. Christ, what a jerk.

This just in: everything Jon Anderson says should be taken with a big ol' grain of salt. Everything.

Michael received just an email from Jon telling him he was taking their manager Jim Lewis and Jean Luc Ponty and forming another band without him.

The documentary on Morgan Agren was a nice little kickstarter and was as much as I can tell - a success. Plus it was just a damn good documentary. I hope most of these stay on the smaller side - asking for millions of dollars always makes me laugh - and then I never actually hear about those following through for some reason or another.

    Mixed, and re-recorded?

One that can actually complete a project?

Which album are we talking about?? Are they, in fact, doing a studio album? Or are they re-recording/dubbing for the "live" album?

Who knows? There hasn't been a proper Kickstarter update since December. They seem to have no interest in updating their investors. According to Jamie Glaser's FB, he is replacing all the guitar parts recorded in Aspen which will make the DVD interesting viewing.

A poor word choice on my part, but on three occasions I not only did not receive the promised perks and my inquiries were ignored.

This is about replacing all the guitar parts in the live album, which were originally played by Jamie Dunlap (their second guitarist after dumping Michael Lewis), with parts recorded by Jamie Glaser (their third guitarist).

As for Kickstarter more generally, I have only ever supported 2 Kickstarter projects: Dave Kerzner's New World and Dylan Howe's Subterranean. Both delivered and did so beyond my expectations.

    Okay.

So, they're replacing all of Dunlap's guitar parts, and Anderson is re-doing vocals and guitar.

What, exactly, is going to be "live" about this album?

A label might suggest something objectionable, like they use perfectly good live guitar on a live album.

No. The post you're reading was poorly formatted, the first bit was by Anderson but the second bit by Glaser. Glaser is doing guitar and (backing) vocals to replace Dunlap. As far as we know, Anderson's original live parts, as Ponty's and everyone else's, are mostly preserved. (I'm sure they've done some touch-ups.)

I'm assuming either a post was deleted or the OPer blew up in another thread to get himself banned? Surely nothing here?

OP lasted one day on PE. Basically he was banned from a Yes forum. He signed up here and started a thread asking that someone here to let him use their account so he could send some messages back to some "friends" on the forum. In all likelihood he was a troll that got banned from here last year after getting kicked off a Yes forum. He went back and forth a little with Sean, then the owner of the Yes forum showed up to counter the OP's self-righteous arguments, Our Benevolent Overlord suggested that given his history of not getting along with people on forums he should probably just go out and get a life. That's not an exact quote but the thread is gone. Then the OP got banned and then came back under another account to bitch about being "censored", thus proving what an ass he is. That thread got booted, along with the new account. Life on PE continues and the Republic stands. We are a better world for it.
