Gimme Shelter is another one that is overused. Oh, and Brubeck's Take Five.

Watched the first two episodes last night.

    Excellent everything, very well done.

Agreed. But that one I don't mind since it's one of the few Rolling Stones song I actually like.

    Oh, and Brubeck's Take Five.
    Impossible.

Some others used a lot in movies, altho whether they're overused or not is questionable:

    Beethoven's 6th, 1st movement
    Debussy's Claire de Lune
    Satie's Gymnopedie #1
Grieg's Peer Gynt Suite, specifically "Morning Mood" and "In the Hall of the Mountain King"

idk if it belongs in the thread but did anyone else watch the Jeopardy Greatest of All Time tournament? it was awesome TV, easily the most entertained I've ever been watching the show. all 3 guys are easy to root for but I'm really glad Ken took it down.

I watched. I was rooting for Holzhauer but Jennings is the GOAT. Rutter was just there to fill the 3rd pew.

was hard to root for Holzhauer after he dissed Green Bay. but he won me back with this:

as for Brad, idk what the hell happened - dude has won 5 Jeopardy tournaments, he's beaten Ken several times and I think James head-to-head once as well. I dunno if it's just bad luck that he biffed on like 7 all-in Daily Doubles or if the increased difficulty of the questions got him

I'd like to see the 3 highest winning women contestants have a similar tournament. There is one big flaw with these G.O.A.T. tournaments in that a lot depends on the categories that come up.

We just watched "The Loudest Voice" mini-series on Showtime after seeing the movie "Bombshell" in the theater a couple of weeks ago. Both deal with Fox news and the sexual abuse charges against Roger Ailes. Both tell the story from different perspectives and with the Showtime show being a mini-series it could go into a lot more detail about the creation of Fox news and it's rise. Anyway, I thought both the show and the film were really good.

I just saw a promo for a series called Project Blue Book on History Channel. It looked interesting, and I wonder if anyone here is watching it. Opinions?

I thought I would check the Travel Channel to see if they had anything on warm weather vacations. Big mistake - apparently all they show now is paranormal/supernatural bullshit shows (and infomercials after midnight). I should have know that when they started marathons of those dumb fucking Ghost Adventures guys the writing was on the wall.

The Outsider - I haven't been this captivated with an HBO show since the first season of True Detective. Creepy, weird vibe. Three eps in and they are NOT handing anything over on a silver platter...which is fantastic in today's instant-gratification environment.

We're getting to that one soon, hopefully. Looks really good. We have been absolutely loving Succession, just finished season 1. What an outstanding ensemble cast, and the family drama aspect of the show is reminiscent of Six Feet Under (my all time favourite). It's the best show I've seen in quite a while.

The complete opposite was the first episode of the sci-fi comedy Avenue 5, which we checked out last night. I absolutely love Hugh Laurie but this was a complete mess, and I didn't even smirk, much less laugh. I won't be continuing on with that one, it's just not for me. When you find yourself thinking "How much longer?" in a half hour comedy, something's wrong.

That was an atrocious mess. Unbelievable!

Yep, Avenue 5 is a complete clunker. The writing is horrible. Might give it another shot but like you, I wasn't impressed.

Can't wait to watch ep1 of Curb Your Enthusiasm tonight!

I guess I'm easier to please than y'all...I enjoyed the first episode of Avenue 5. Not as good as Veep (of course), but definitely enough of interest for me to watch the season.

Needless to say, the Curb premiere was better.

It's rare for me to LOL at a TV show, but Curb got me a couple of times. JB Smoove is magnificent.

Finished Suits. I was glad to see the show was allowed to end and wasn't just cancelled.

Am currently watching the Aaron Hernandez documentary, because of the NFL connection of course.

The Hernandez documentary is excellent, could have been condensed as usual, but still very good.

I just finished all 5 seasons of "Pinky Blinders" I think I enjoyed season 5 the best and it obviously set things up to continue.

Started watching curb your enthusiasm. I bought 5 seasons cheap at books a million.. Funny, and really uncomfortable but not quite Seinfeld. Bob Odenkirk is in an episode, talking about being a Porn Star... a little dark at times, but I stopped after 1.5 seasons. I plan on getting back into it again.

Trailer park Boys... Same thing too many Fbombs and abusive behavior to watch too many shows. It just gets - depressing.

Funny, Curb & Trailer Park Boys are among the few shows that have elicited genuine "LOL" moments. Seinfeld was another, but that show lost its edge when Larry left. I've always mintained that Curb is basically Seinfeld on steroids.
