I'm liking Santa Clarita Diet on Netflix with Drew Barrymore & Timothy Olyphant.
Lots of blood and sex, and it's still a damn funny zombie comedy.

On the past weekend I binged the latest series of The Man in the High Castle.
It was as good as the first.
Finally got to meet the Man himself.

We've been bingeing the first season of Netflix's Daredevil. Watching the last episode tonight. Really, really good. Barely a "super hero" show, and has a great, ominous tone.

Three shows in to the new season and The Expanse is just killing it!

Anyone watching BBC America Planet Earth 2? Pretty stunning visually.
I'm enjoying Taboo & Paranoid as well.

I blame Wynton, what was the question?
There are only 10 types of people in the World, those who understand binary and those that don't.
Watched the first episode of both 24: Legacy and APB. Both have potential, IMO.
24, to their credit, seems to be taking a bit of a different direction with their "hero" this round, as they didn't just give us another Jack Bauer. But most of what people like about the show is still there - torture porn, easy-to-hate brown people, etc. I can see this one lasting for a season or two.
APB has a very interesting premise, IMO: a billionaire businessman/entrepreneur/engineer (seems to be modeled after Elon Musk) is driving through the "bad neighborhoods" of Chicago when he walks into a convenience store robbery. His best friend is subsequently killed by the thug, and our protagonist has to go to the police station to file a report. While waiting and making his report, he sees the inefficiencies of the precinct (old equipment, lay-offs, burned out cops, etc.) and decides to do something about it. So, he basically shames the mayor into "giving" him the precinct - he's now the police chief of that particular precinct. No one likes this, of course. Least of all, the cops. But this gives him an opportunity to use his seemingly infinite resources to provide start of the art equipment and technology to bring the force into the 21st century.
Only one episode, but I was impressed. There are a lot of ways for this to go wrong, but so far, they've steered clear of cliches and cringes. Honestly, it probably won't even last a season, but if that's the case, I hope some other network picks it up.

I don't agree. It's just like 24 with a different actor. To get the bad guys, he has to do things that get the good guys thinking he's a bad guy himself and he has to fight both sides. As for the 'brown people' comment, I think James Lileks described it pretty well: " If there are Arab terrorists in the first few episodes, you know the real enemy is Jon Voight trying to manipulate drug prices." See also this season's Homeland.

Black Bauer is very similar to Keifer's role as no matter how many shots have been fired, from close range too, he remains uninjured.
As a fan of the original run, I'm caught up in all the plot twists and turns, maybe too many too soon, but it's got my attention. Thinking there will be a big finale involving the terrorists and the gang members. Long ways to go of course, hoping Jimmy Smits' character lasts awhile too.

Another vote for Santa Clarita Diet. Stars Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant as a couple trying to cope with the fact that Barrymore has somehow become a zombie.
This show is fucking funny!

Yeah, she really is excellent in it... and so likeable, too. And how is it she's actually gotten more beautiful? And Timothy Olyphant is a bit of a surprise, too. I thought he was really good in Justified but I had no idea he had any comedic chops.
They really work well together and have real chemistry.
The two teenagers are great, too.

Been watching Santa Clarita Diet due to hype here, and I am liking it more the deeper into it we get. Extremely black humour delivered in a mostly deadpan way...

We watched the first episode of Santa Clarita Diet. Intrigued enough to continue but boy, there's a couple scenes that are not for the weak of stomach. Then again, what would the weak of stomach be doing watching a zombie comedy. I have to do a little bit of work to separate Timothy Olyphant from his previous role in Justified. I keep waiting for a different kind of mayhem to ensue.

Yeah I'm struggling to separate him from Justified, I keep expecting him to put a cowboy hat on. It is very funny though.

SC Diet rules!
I realized that for the first time, tonight (and for several Sunday nights to come), I'm DVRing 4 hour long shows at the same time. Billions on Showtime, the season opener of American Crime Story on ABC, Sarandon & Lange as Davis & Crawford on FX, and Shades of Blue on NBC, which imo is a really good show in spite of, not because of. J-Lo. The "because ofs" go to Ray Liotta & Virgina Madsen.
