Just finished HIGH SCORE on Netflix a new documentary series about the History of Video Games.
Well made and covered a lot of the major things in Classic Arcade and Video Games. Even just the down to the animation they did for it.
If you grew up in the 80's and early 90's like me, and enjoyed Arcades and Home Console gaming, it's well worth checking out.
I would think anyone growing up in the '70s would like it, too. We were the generation who were kids, after all, when Pong and RC cars were first sold and when video game arcades first became a thing. Our first games were Asteroids (which I loved), Space Invaders, Lunar Lander (another good one), Battlezone (another I loved), Missile Command (good one), Centipede, Pac-Man, and Donkey Kong.
I was lucky because I was 16 and had a job when they were first introduced. One week, I had worked just a couple of days and so my paycheck was less than $30. After picking up my check, I walked down to the bank, cashed it, walked back to my job, but then kept going down a couple doors to an arcade and started playing Asteroids. Five hours later, I walked out with just enough money to buy a pack of cigarettes and a six-pack. lol
There was another arcade in town that was really popular with the older teens and early 20somethings for about 4 or 5 years. They had every new game imaginable. Plus they had foosball and pool tables. Every Friday and Saturday night it was packed. And every Friday and Saturday night it usually had the faint odor of weed. Didn't have any? Just walk out into the parking lot and you could usually find someone selling some. lol As much as I've often wished I was born in a different era, the '70s had to be the best decade to be a teenager. The oldest boomers will claim the '50s, others the '60s, but we had the "sex, drugs, and R&R" of the '60s, the progressive rock movement, and we had video games! Plus we were the last generation who could get into bars at the age of 18 when they still made 3-2 beer (3.2%)! It sucked, sure, but just imagine being in high school and still being able to go to a bar - legally. Conversely, kids who were born in the '70s were told by Nancy Reagan in the '80s to "just say no."
We had it all.

I literally majored in Pac Man during my first year of university. Fortunately, I smartened up in my 2nd year forward.

I enjoyed High Score a lot, as I am always happy to embrace 80s video game nostalgia since it was my childhood, but I do admit to fast-forwarding a lot of the personal stories. I just don't care about that stuff.
And I swear I'm the only one on earth who liked the E.T. game. I played it for many hours!

Finally got HBO Max on hulu sorted (had to stream from a laptop as its not on Fire Stick), watched episode one of Raised By Wolves and Doom Patrol. Both seemed fun, damn that Android was bonkers.

Fall TV Shows are coming.
The Goldbergs posted an image on Twitter the other day about their Season Premiere is October 21st.
I also saw images from what Superstore is shooting (sad America Ferrara is leaving, although they may at least bring her back for the Season Premiere given the last Season Finale did not get made in full due to COVID).
I just blasted through the 2 seasons of Cobra Kai on Netflix and had a cheesy, nostalgic, joy ride.

Loved Cobra Kai!
"That gum you like is going to come back in style."
I wonder what, if anything will become of NCIS Los Angeles. Last season, it seemed they were wrapping things up, and tying up loose ends. Then suddenly, the Pandemic shut everything down.

They've restarted production and are adding someone to the cast. (I don't remember the actor's name but he played an FBI agent in several episodes in the previous season. My guess is he takes Callen's position on the team if Callen takes Hetty's position, as they were setting in the past.)

My wife and I have loved this one and the original from the beginning, but we're in agreement that they've both run their course. I think they're both in the process of wrapping it up, and that's as it should be. The NOLA version, OTOH, never grabbed me in the first place.

Happy with what I have to be happy with.
I'm 3 episodes in on Arrow. Looks interesting so far. Opinions?

NOLA is more of a Mark Harmon production whereas, the other 2 are more Donald P. Bellisario productions. I had a chuckle when on JAG, they made a Quantum Leap reference, another Bellisario production. Then another chuckle when Scott Bakula, the star of Quantum Leap ended up as the centerpiece of NOLA.
Just last night, Ralph Macchio was interviewed by Conan. They discussed at length the nostalgia factor of Cobra Kai.

I used to read the comic back in the day when the Green Arrow was Oliver Queen, and never got into the CW series, just too soap opera for my taste. I had a friend that was into it, however, but the CW series all strike me that way. In fact a lot of TV series strike me that way though there have been some good ones: X-Files, Breaking Bad, etc.
I checked out of Arrow during season two - there was a plotline with Arrow's hot mother that was just ludicrous. I understand there are payoffs for those who stuck with it but I never went back.
I don't like country music, but I don't mean to denigrate those who do. And for the people who like country music, denigrate means 'put down.'- Bob Newhart
Yeah, I'm around 8 episodes in (Arrow), not sure if I'll continue.

Ratched is excellent on Netflix. The pastel colors are amazing. Raised By Wolves was fairly good on HBO Max. The new Fargo series starts September 27 on FX.

Man, I watch an unhealthy dose of series since I'm on disability, but at the time I'm really enjoying Raised By Wolves, Lovecraft Country, Star Trek Lower Decks, just finished the two seasons of the latest Twilight Zone reboot and last night started watching Utopia from Amazon Prime.
I live in an ephemeral eternity
Season 4 of Fargo begins tonight with the first two episodes on FX. I have the DVR set!

Oh, and two new British series on Masterpiece starting very soon, both look excellent, and I'll be watching as always:
Flesh And Blood - Lives of three siblings are disrupted when their recently widowed mother declares she's in love with a new man. Tangled web of secrets, lies, rivalries and betrayals eventually leads to a murder.
COBRA - A look at the British government in the midst of a terrible crisis. As widespread power outages cause chaos and threaten lives across the country, the COBRA committee comprised of the UK's leading experts and politicians, gathers to find a way to turn the lights back on. On the backdrop of violent unrest in the streets, difficult decisions will need to be made against the clock if the country is to survive.
... great casts in both.
