Great news. Present is my fave RIO band cuz they RAWK.

But is Roger in a wheelchair in that photo? Can he still play?
I'm holding out for the Wilson-mixed 5.1 super-duper walletbuster special anniversary extra adjectives edition.

Roger has been in a wheelchair for a while, he mostly plays keys and strangled vocals these days with Reg handling the guitar most excellently.

    He's been in a wheelchair since 2009.

The good news is that they sounded really good at RIO with Lisbeth.

Glad you liked it. Liesbeth did an utterly fantastic job, with only 3 1/2 rehearsals beforehand, and was pretty much note-perfect from measure 1. Personally, I had missed the acoustic string sound since Matthieu (the cellist left), so voi'la.

The band wanted to record this month, but money ran short, and some of the new bits need some tweaking. We're now looking at April and May.

Cool, looking forward to that, Liesbeth was great at RIO, I similarly missed the acoustic strings.

Last night at Aranis and Basta² doubleheader last night, I spoke to Pierre Chevalier about the upcoming presence of Present at the RIO fest in Bourgoin (it seems that he was more interested in speaking about that than the end of Aranis >>> which he says is "open") ... He told me that present has got a new guitarist, because Reginald stopped/left, and that they would be in the Bourgoin area a few days in advance to work on new compositions for a possible new album.
my music collection increased tenfolds when I switched from drug-addicts to complete nutcases.

The new guitarist is François Mignot of Ni and PiNioL.

    Wow! Nice...
At first I could not think of Present without any Trigaux on guitars, but that`s a great choice.

No offense to François, but Yehuda K. would have been the obvious and best, new addition. Nonetheless, we go on.

Out of curiosity, may I ask why you feel Yehuda would be the "obvious and best" choice?

  24. #49
^^^ Chris: Since you asked..... I can only speak for myself, so......

Besides being an able player, Yehuda is our tried and true friend. And it's partially an emotional thing. It was tough to lose Reg (he just doesn't want to play in Present any longer), so to make it easier, I felt it would have been nice to keep it somewhat in the extended family. Kind of like having Kurt B. step in for Little Pierre, or Liesbeth's violin replace Matthieu's cello. From the inside, Present is as much a fraternity as a musical entity.

Again, I mean no offense to François. I look forward to meeting and working with him. I hope he can endure our depravities.
