GUILLAUME PERRET & THE ELECTRIC EPIC Open Me

Open Me was one of the best Releases from 2014 for me. But I seems hardly noticed here.

I just got it a week ago once Steve got it at Wayside. It's still pretty early to form an opinion but it sure sounds great.

I blame Wynton, what was the question?

I got his self-released and his second Cd on Tzadik and I like them but I preferred his concerts. Electric Epic was incredibly good on stage especially with Philippe Bussonet on bass and Jim Grandcamp on guitar. On small stages like Le Triton or on a big Festival stage he delivered great powerful concerts. Guillaume Perret got a lot of attention as a bandleader the last time and this might have led to the split with his former band mates. He is playing tomorrow with his new band for two nights and I hope not to be disappointed.

Oh I wasn't aware that he reformed the band. Still the old ones on the second Album.
Sorry to hear that, I'm a big fan of Philippe Bussonet's bass playing.

Still I wish I could make it to those concerts...

My main issue too...just ordered it. I'm looking forward to hearing it though. Their second album was fantastic.

Yeah, I remember a bunch of positive comments a few months ago, that's when I bought the debut.

I find the new one to be a step down from the previous two (or is it three?).

Al Zheimer strikes again, in my case, cos I must've read the thread.

I have the first from 2009, but haven't pursued them after... I remember the guitarist did an impression.

Kind of late to this party, but I finally got to hear "A Certain Trip" several times and my God, it is good. Several songs remind me a little bit of the Christian Scott Atunde Adjuah's Stretch music. Besides the funky "Phatty" song, the rest are just a continuous twirl of awesomeness.
