A couple of days ago, we had snow in the mountains of Northern Arizona. Our ski season is expected to last through May...highly unusual for us.

The weather is perfect right now. I've been outside all week preparing the pool and patio.

Yesterday at my townhouse complex, there were a couple of kids actually IN the pool. And no, it isn't heated.

A friend of mine was originally planning a polar plunge today in his pond. Last year we did it in February. Glad he decided against it today since I just came down with a cold....but who knows....I might have felt better after a dip in the icy water.

    I doubt it.

All we've gotten (and are forecast) locally are rain and wind. Not particularly pleasant, but not out of the ordinary for IA in April. Others in surrounding states aren't as fortunate.

Going up to the low 60s (or high 50s) in Ottawa this Saturday. Good lord, I've been waiting so long.

A third of our state is getting pulled into that massive blizzard but we're high and dry up here. Then again, our drought never really broke from last summer and we could really use that moisture.

Dammit, all our water is out as of a few hours ago. Broken water main. I could really use life’s comforts...

Duluth MN is expecting 6-8 inches of snow. I won't complain about our temps in the 40-50s any more.

Serious Floods in Ottawa and surrounding areas. Still, it's been warm and sunny lately. Feel bad for those impacted.

That's becoming more and more of a problem here, during the hottest part of the year. It's more frequent as our water infrastructure ages.

I know this will elicit an "FU" response from some of you, but even now in the middle of July, we're having better weather in the Phoenix area than back east. Many places in your neck of the woods will experience heat indices of 110 or more, over the next several days. A week ago Thursday, our hottest day so far this year at 116, our heat index was only around 108. Yes that sounds counter-intuitive, but when the air is dry, your sweat actually evaporates and cools you off. Hence, our heat indices several degrees below actual air temps. The only time that changes is during the monsoon when our dew points rise into the mid 60s. Then our heat index will match the air temp. But the trade-off is the humidity will moderate the air temps.

It's 88F in Miami today. It never gets above 95 here. Love it.
