Haven't seen one of those "_____ (fill in the blanks) Shreds" videos in a long time. The first comment was "This is what Phish sounds like to actual musicians." I don't agree, but it did make me laugh!

This is the funniest shreds video I've seen so far.

My wife wanted to know what was so funny. I explained the concept. She shrugged and said that sounds like the shit you always listen to.

My favourites were the John Petrucci ones. I remember some Dream Theater fan somewhere getting outraged at how 'disrespectful' it was (some of their fanbase thinks they are The Greatest Musicians Ever). Hilarious!

I also remember a 'real' one of a very off-form Michael Schenker from 2007, which was painful to listen to. I gather this was a low-point and he's very much back on track now, though.

I love the mumbling vocals on this Phish one, and the crappy drum fills!

What *is* the concept? Don't worry I won't say what your wife said if you explain it....

A lot of women just don't like or get prog. There was the one prog documentary(which never really got off the ground)where one woman said this about prog "that's the crap my husband listens to." That reminded me of that.

This one is still my favourite:
rcarlberg: Is there anything sadder than a song that has never been played?
Plasmatopia: Maybe a song in D minor that has never been played?

bob_32_116: That would be a terrific triple bill: Cyan, Magenta and Yello.

trurl: The Odyssey: "He's trying to get home."

The videos are spoofs in which a very clever musician/group of musicians have taken well-known live clips of famous artists such as Santana, Van Halen, Dire Straits, Phish, and the like and dubbed themselves over all the original audio. They purposefully play and sing everything in a hilariously awful way that makes it appear - very convincingly much of the time - like these folks can't play at all.

Could someone explain to me how some people need the concept to be explained to them?

Yeah, that's especially weird considering this is a prog forum.
