Huh. If this is the case that means they've finally had a group discussion about Rush's End Game. It will definitely help to fill stadia everywhere they go this year, though it might also open the door to some smaller scale (dare I say it: clubs?) gigs down the road. That would definitely not suck (except the "getting tickets" part ).
I'm holding out for the Wilson-mixed 5.1 super-duper walletbuster special anniversary extra adjectives edition.

I don't see them doing a club tour. Maybe a couple of one-offs, but not a tour.
And they haven't confirmed that this is a winding down tour - that's just unsubstantiated blab. This may be a bit of 'fun' for them before heading back into the studio.
Let's wait for the official word from the guys themselves.
I'm quite surprised at so many posts here have people saying they haven't seen Rush since 1980-this or 1980-that....shhheshhh...I haven't missed a tour since 1997. Rush coming to town is as much a "no-brainer" to me as John McLaughlin is.
Their music has not grabbed me since the mid 80s. My Rush collection is complete from debut to HYF, then I have Snakes & Arrows and Clockwork "MF" Angels. I only have those two because the hype surrounding them, stating they were a return to the old sound etc... They are not. Both are over-produced discs lacking the beautifully organic sounds of the late 70s/early 80s. I never listen to either of them. So I will not spend a few hundred dollars to go see them play 90% of a show of songs that do not interest me.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

This is a great tour for folks that don't care to hear a bunch of new stuff, actually.....
It would nice if they did all of 2112 again....even tuned down a whole step ala the '96 version.
I just don't do large venue shows anymore. I saw Rush in '81, '82, '84, '86, '87. During those shows they played a lot of 'classic' material when Geddy could still sing them. If you add up the ticket prices for those 5 shows, it probably comes out to what I'd pay to see them in '15.

The UK press seem to be reporting the band's statement as reliable, but in fact it doesn't say the band won't be playing live after this tour, just that they won't be touring on this magnitude.
I'm totally cool with that - they've given so many live performances to fans around the world over the last 10 years, and it's bound to be taking a toll on all 3 of them, but especially Ged's voice. I watched the S&A blu the other night and then the TM blu and the drop in the vocals between those tours is very noticeable. The guy's a trooper for his endurance, but I think they've earned their retirement from huge treks.
If Rush only play these 34 dates and don't extend the tour into Europe/UK/Glasgow, I will feel some disappointment, but then I got 4 tours I never expected (R30 - CA) after such a lengthy absence from Europe. And each time I've seen them, I've enjoyed each gig like it might be the last time I see them, and for me the CA album/tour has been a peak.
So I raise a glass to them, wish them well and thank them for 40 years of music to keep me going for the next 40 years (hopefully...)
I'm in the same boat. Have everything up to GUP, then got S&A and Clockwork.... because of the hype. Just tried to listen to Clockwork again this morning, can't do it. I had my car stereo turned only half way up, and it was so loud and distorted, I couldn't take more than 20 minutes of it. Sounds like some cool playing and songs, but the worst mix I've ever heard in my life. It makes me wonder about Rush's integrity, when they boast about integrity so much. I also watched some of the Clockwork live bluray on youtube last night, and God, Geddy just needs to call it a day. Voice. Cannot. Sing. Probably should be the name of tour. I love the guys to death though, personally, believe me I do. I salute anyone who pays to see them and can sit through it all and enjoy.
What gives you that impression? A tour covering their whole career doesn't equal a lot of 70's stuff. And again, with Geddy's voice.... Really, if I want to hear them play 2112, or Bytor, or Hemisphers, I want them to do it better than ever, updated. Unless they get help onstage to do justice to the music, I'm out.
Did you ever see them back then or before?
To this fan, Rush is a story of three bands:
1. The metal-ish, hard rockers playing for their lives with Geddy squealing like a gineau pig on amphetamines 74 to 76
2. The intelligent proggers with deep lyrics and groundbreaking releases 77 to early 80s
3. Post-early-80s veterans playing in their comfort zone

Tickets for Philly secured. 6 rows off the floor, Section 114.
Chad
Phila floor for the home show gig. First level corner 7 rows up for the show after in Newark
Now to decide whether to do the Toronto show I've always wanted to road trip or drive to Columbus to do a show with some Ohio friends
Other potentials are an easy flight to sunny Tampa
I did have a line on a 5th row center for the Tulsa OK opening date but thought better when I factored in flights etc
Would anyone care to share the Philly presale password? Private message is fine, if you'd prefer.
Thanks in advance.

Looks like I'm going to have to miss the Atlanta show due to family vacation. Sometimes God smiles though: I'm going to be able to hit the Tampa show due to said vacation. Phew! Starting with HYF I haven't missed a tour and I'm not going to start now.
