    Yes for Mike Gunn. TWR were from California. Sacramento Valley -roughly a desert environment. Though their sound is "desert" driven.

    And Captain Beefheart's "Safe As Milk" is desert rock to my ears as well

    Yup, I remember their connection to the Paisley Underground scene in L.A. during the 80s. Of course, a couple of those bands (Lone Ryders and partly the Three O'Clock, as well as some later Rain Parade material) veered towards the Nevada-desert sound as well.

    Which I suppose distracts from the typical Texan-desert sound.
