I enjoyed some of his albums, mostly on and off, because I didn't like the fact that he based an entire career on covers. He had a great voice and probably he was the best "gravel" vocalist in rock. And "Mad Dogs and Englishmen" is a great live album. The idea of such a large rock band was rather a novelty for the era (though I don't know if it was his or Leon Russell's).
