I had a bit about that in my original draft, but I didn't specifically discuss this with Dave or the designer. I just had this quote from our good friend Steve F when we discussed the possible meaning of the cover concept some years ago, and he had this to offer re: the presence of Dave's NH glasses :

"Those glasses - Dave's glasses - are National Health (i.e. free) standard glasses. You want another style, you had to pay extra."

Thanks. I guess I didn't see this clue at once because I knew pictures of Dave with these glasses on before this cover/album was released AND because I only know those NH-glasses in The Netherlands as being silver/metalic. (no, not those).
