... Recordings of their work are rather hard to track down. There is one album [self-titled, 2002] available digitally, and apparently a lot of other material floating around loose on the 'net via YouTube, Soundcloud, etc. Seems that they had a Bandcamp site (at one time), but that address now links to a bare-bones, practically pointless web page.
Any thoughts on this band, or on the "Doom Jazz" subgenre in general?

I like 'em plenty. Here Be Dragons is probably my favorite. If you haven't checked out their alter-ego side project Mt Fuju Doomjazz Ensemble, give it a go.

In terms of doom jazz? I'm not sure exactly what might qualify...I do love me some Bohren & Der Club of Gore though. I *think* that might fit a description like doom jazz

Along with the self-titled Kilimanjaro Dark Jazz Ensemble album, I've also been spinning several Bohren albums (Beileid, Black Earth, Dolores, Geisterfaust, and Piano Nights) while working late tonight (well ... guess it's morning now). Rather more minimalistic than Kilimanjaro, but certainly of a similar aesthetic ... I'd call it "doom jazz."
I like how the sub-genre seems to be founded in a kind of noir-ish quality, to which it returns periodically, but is not strictly limited.
I'm finding that it plays well with a few things I already had in my library, including a couple of Johann Johannsson albums, Vangelis' "Blade Runner" soundtrack, Devin Townsend's "Casualties of Cool" album, and Angelo Badalamenti's scores for Twin Peaks (both the TV show and the film).
I got into Kilimanjaro via Bohern. Have a lot of Bohern, but as you said in your first post Kilimanjaro is difficult to find. I have one, but would love to find others that didn't break the bank to own.
Fuck yeah! I have 'Here Be Dragons' and I'll have to check on what else.... I checked. I have that and the s/t release.
