I think there would be quite a bit of interest in these. His first three A&M albums have only ever had one CD release (as US imports here too) and the next four have not really had wide distribution on CD at all.

Here's hoping that the packaging does these justice.

Don't think there's much scope for bonus tracks on the 'Six Wives' CD, unless you throw in ol' Henry's mistresses as well.

Six Wives and King Arthur albums set for re-release in February
Two of Rick Wakeman's most successful albums are to be issued as deluxe editions.

The Six Wives Of Henry VIII and The Myths And Legends Of King Arthur And The Knights Of The Round Table will be released via Universal Music on February 2 ahead of the keyboard icon's UK tour.

They'll be available in CD, CD/DVD, LP and digital formats. Both have been remastered at Abbey Road, and the DVD element features new quadrophonic mixes of the tracks. They're to be delivered in new packaging.

The Six Wives Of Henry VIII was Wakeman's first studio solo album. Released in 1973 it landed in the the UK album chart Top 10 and went on to over 15 million copies worldwide. It was inspired by Nancy Brysson-Morris’s book The Private Life of Henry VIII, a childhood favourite of Wakeman’s. His third title, The Myths And Legends Of King Arthur And The Knights of the Round Table, reached no2 in 1975.

Earlier this year, Wakeman's Journey To The Centre Of The Earth and its sequel Return To The Centre Of The Earth were reissued as special editions.

He won the Live Event award at this year's Prog Magazine Progressive Music Awards.

Can you play 'Quad' in 'Stereo'?

A 5:1 would have been a better 'extra'

There was a track recorded at the 'Six Wives' sessions featuring some of the Yes members, which appeared on one of his later solo albums. I'm surprised that's not on this new one. And nothing at all on 'Arthur', plus they've used ancient quad mixes instead of doing new 5.1 ones (not that I'm interested in either).

To be honest it's the subsequent ones which are more interesting because they've had fairly limited release on CD.

It's probably the quad mix using 5.1. '4.0', as it were. And if your system downmixes (I know my Oppo does on the stereo outs), then yes, you can listen to it in stereo.

I'm a little disappointed in the lack of extras, but I will still get it, because I'm a surround whore.

I don't need the bonus tracks or the surround mixes, but I'll get these for the (presumably) remastered sound.
