I was listening to Bartók’s Sonata for Unaccompanied Violin yesterday and let me tell you, that thing is nuts! I had the video with the score so I could follow along. So many double/triple/quadruple stops!

Confirmed Bachelors: the dramedy hit of 1883...
Just ran across this...have you heard the Robin Ticciati version? My god...the sound on that thing...and the energy!!!
Speaking of this Ticciati, I've run across a lot of really well recorded and excellently played things by him with various orchestras. The Brahms symphonies and Debussy's "La Mer" and "Nocturnes" specifically along with the Ravel you mentioned.
If it ain't acousmatique-It's crap
I'm currently listening to a Jonathan Harvey CD on the NMC label. This is the first piece.

Anyone here have an interest in reel-to-reel recordings of 20th Century Classical composers (mostly English and Eastern European/Scandinavian)? This is part of a larger collection (I grabbed the CD's already) from a collector in NY who has passed away. I am not sure how many of these recordings are off-air broadcasts or transfers of vinyl, but judging from the CD's, there's a high probability of a treasure trove of rarities if names like Bax, Svendsen, Alfven, Bantock, Stenhammar, Halvorsen, Rubbra, etc mean anything to you. There are also several hundred audio cassette tapes. To get a better idea of this guys' tastes (as well as mine, in this instance), you can browse the first few pages of my Discogs offerings:

Sebastian Fagerlund-A couple of his pieces...Isola and Drifts for Orchestra and Stonework for Orchestra.
Really good stuff, I can hear a band like Anglagard playing an electro version of this type of music. The recordings are stunning as well!
best
