Cheers for this....brilliant! I truly love RVW, and had never heard this before.

A few years back, I bought the 30-CD set on EMI called "RVW The Collectors Edition". I think I paid somewhere around US$50 for it, sadly its now fetching $320 on Amazon - what a shame. Anyway, its truly an amazing collection of his exquisite music, and will give me a lifetime of aural bliss. This piece is not included in that set AFAIK.

If you're into RVW, two of his lesser known sacred pieces which I think are absolutely brilliant are Dona Nobis Pacem and Sancta Civitas. Highly recommended.

^Another RVW gem!! I consider myself a fairly huge RVW admirer and have heard a good chunk of his oeuvre, but I had never heard these two gems before - thanks so much for posting mate!

The beginning of this piece and parts of Fripp/Enos has a certain resemblance. Most likely a coincidence.

    One of my favorites!

Heard this one on the radio last week. British composer Rubbra was a generation younger than Vaughan Williams. He wrote eleven symphonies.

Felix Mendleson Symphony no. 3 "Scottish" is a very emotional symphony for me. Absolutely brilliant pieces of music.

Much less noisy, than German Romantics. I like his music a lot, though usually I'm not too keen on traditionalists.

I've been enjoying this 2-cd release of improvisations for church organ by Frederik Nagle from the album "Like A Flame".His playing, to me, comes out of the French school of 20th century organ music.I hear echoes of early Messiaen and Widor.Very tonal, easy on the ear but with substance.Nagle helped design and voice the organ he uses in this recording.
