Looks like DGM is putting together a digital bundle of the 1981 Crimson shows. I wonder if this may result in a box set of some sort later on down the road.

I noticed that and also found it odd. Given the seeming success of the big ticket box sets, I would have guessed the 1981 tour might be the next box set. But it wouldn't make sense to release it as a bundle with a box to follow would it? Unless you give the bundle-purchasers a serious discount on the subsequent box...
… or you include material not found in the digital bundle as per the recent box sets. Many of those shows contained in the box sets had been available at dgmlive previously. Possible they would include video as well. Who knows?
Only the Frippster knows.
I'm pretty certain there won't be a box set - as far as I know this is ALL audience bootleg sourced as none of the shows seem to have been recorded by/for the band themselves. Only some in the summer of '82 and of course the final Montreal '84 shows seem to have been recorded professionally.

could be interesting but they have already released a bundle of the savoy shows(which was pretty enjoyable i thought) which is part of the north american 81 tour so will this be doubled up or will they leave it out of the bundle? would hate to have to rebuy those to get the other shows.
I just paged through all of the 1981 King Crimson entries on dgmlive.com. Not one of them is a soundboard recording, and nowhere is the word "improv' mentioned.
No need for a big box, IMO.
Ya the Savoy shows were fun but they were not all that varied so a big box seems overkill but a decent price for all the downloads is ok would be interesting to hear just hte first and last shows of the tour to see how things have changed.
I think if there were to be a big box for the 80's maybe just one big box with all three albums and a selection of high quality shows from the entire period. throw in a nice dvd/bluray of various promotional appearances could be a good set.
there's plenty of room for a few little boxes, too
