They did, or at least their record company did...that's how they were marketed in North America.

Black Noise kinda does have a smidgen of UK to it (the 3-piece UK.)
It's sort of Eloy meets UK with a sprinkling of new wave, a dash of fusion and a side of pop.
But really, Black Noise is too idiosyncratic to compare with anybody. And that's why I love it so much.
