Tonight's menu:
La Pietra Lunare -Il Passagio Arboreo Italian FolkRock. Very nice. This is the limited CDR that came with the CD, supposedly limited to 40 copies. Tbh, I liked this more than the CD, and what sounds like mellotron mixed with an acoustic sensibility is a very enjoyable brew.
Yuhki Nakajima -Inspire This one sounds like a product of it's time and place, and doesn't really take off until the latter part of the 4th track. It's not complex, and parts don't seem terribly like Progressive Rock, despite the instrumentation. The sound is very "digital," (read: bright and sharp) but it does have it's moments. This is a rare CD, afaik, but I can't really enthuse about it overall.
Isildur's Bane -The Voyage -A Trip To Elsewhere 2 CD. One of my top 5 Swedish bands, but not one of their top albums. A mix of classical sounds and rock, it leans heavily toward the classical, and a good bit is fairly sedate.
Pholas Dactylus -Concerto Delle Menti This one never gets any run in Progressive Rock circles, but it should. Musically, this is top tier 70s Italian Prog-Rock. Vocally, it's weak, as most parts are spoken, and the ones that aren't are nearly so. Nonetheless, this is largely instrumental, and the music is so strong, that with a better vocalist, this might have the same rep as Semiramis.I highly, highly recommend this.
