Samson did a decent job with the lyrics for On An Island I think, however unfortunate it is that the word "diss" is now on a Pink Floyd record thanks to her.

^^ "No sax please, we're British!"

Joking aside, I like sax on an album, provided it's not overused. I love the way it's used in the opening part of "Us and Them". One of my favourite uses of sax comes in the middle of "Don't Hate Me" by Porcupine Tree. It's especially effective there because it's not an instrument they used very often.

The sax is not my favorite sounding instrument but, when used is small doses & in support of rather than in the forefront, I enjoy it. Al Stewart immediately comes to mind. "Year of the Cat" vs "Time Passages."

That's the problem with music these days -- too much sax and violins!

This cd has about 16 bars of sax on it (if that), that's all. So what's the issue?

That it's schlocky and horrible . And I like the sax on earlier Floyd albums, especially WYWH. I don't know why, maybe just age but here the sax sounds like something from Guy Lombardo. But it is brief and easily skipped.

LOL. That's pretty stupid. At least she didn't use Twerk.

Who be dissin the sax? Loves me a growly sax. Not a lombardo-like sax tho.

I know that "dis" is short for "disrespect"... but what the heck is twerk short for?
Why is it whenever someone mentions an artist that was clearly progressive (yet not the Symph weenie definition of Prog) do certain people feel compelled to snort "thats not Prog" like a whiny 5th grader?

THAT twerking I'd like to see. I actually think they should Twerk to Echoes.

Are the lyrics on Animals that vaguely derogatory for the time?
Mmm, suppose so, but Dave and Rog aren't yet being derogatory about each other. They're still hanging on in quiet desparation.
