    Mac DeMarco

My son is going to see this guy with a friend tonight. Sort of his first concert without me, the friends dad is dropping them off and picking them up.

Anyone (Canucks?) familiar with him? Had a brief listen on YouTube, sounds not too bad. His friend was going and had an extra ticket. I've been promised they will behave. We shall see.

Local community radio station played a couple of his songs recently, Sounded pretty listenable, if not world-shattering. Can't recall the names of the songs. Also I think he is playing over the summer at one or more of those "laneway" festivals, so he must be developing some sort of following.

I'm not a fan at all. A couple of my coworkers play his latest disc frequently at our record store. I find his music lo-fi to the point of distraction.

Hmm, what I heard didn't seem what I'd call Lo-fi. To me it seemed like if you took a mid paced middle part of a typical latter day Marillion song and stretched it out for a whole song.

And no, that's not what Marillion does!

Anyway, my son liked the show and returned in normal state as far as I could tell. But he ran into a lot of friends from school in varying states.
