A stunner from fusion's heyday. Own it...or else! 'Nuff said.
Then you should as fast as lightning get Live in New York (1975) too !
I was listening to "Stepping Stones" today. It was drawn from the Mahavishnu Orchestra live in Central Park. Like Children is unique and innovative. I love this album to death.
Remember how horrible those Nemporer pressings were? Like Children, Stanley Clarke's self-titled, First Seven Days et al, snap crackle pop. Never really heard this clearly until the CD finally came out, should have bought the cassette! Great album.
I especially love Oh Yeah! and Like Children, haven't heard the live 1975 one though. On the Like Children album I was surprised at the time that it is just Hammer and Goodman on this as I thought they had brought in a drummer and guitarist, but no Hammer is on the drums and plays very well and Goodman is on guitar.

I think I heard "Oh Yeah" before "Like Children". Have both on LP and the Wounded Bird CD releases. Both are great, often like to crank up "Country and Eastern Music", "Magical Dog" and "One To One".
"Country And Eastern Music" is one of my favorite songs of all TIME....
my favorite Jazz/Jazz-related album.

Good one!
no tunes, no dynamics, no nosebone
Great tune - great album !
Here is another version of that tune:
Great album... got it back-in-the-day....a favorite for sure......still have my original vinyl.
I need to spin this tonight when I get home.
Not surprisingly, the whole album is up on YouTube:
Couldn't find a CD-version for a reasonable price, so I bought a scratchy LP. But since I loved it so much I searched for the CD and found it for a very good price at Wayside!
There're a lot of Happy The Man-like tunes; I can imagine Kit Watkins was inspired by Hammer. He covered "I Remember Me" for his "Azure"-CD.
I just got a LP copy of this album a few weeks ago. Played it just a couple of weeks ago. Excellent!!
Am I the only one who isn't a big fan of the vocals on this album? Great songs on it 'though and the Jan Hammer Group's live versions of those are even better. Hammer isn't no slouch on the drummers but he is no Tony Smith either (nobody is).
I wish someone could unearth a demo that was made by the early incarnation of Jan Hammer Group featuring Dougie Rauch on bass.
