Or like folk music. Much of which is indeed simplistic and repetitive, but there's also something to it. It takes a certain gift to write a three-chord song that isn't just stupid and an obvious retread of some other well-known three-chord song - and I think Kurt had that gift.
How about a grunge cruise boys?
Mainstream rock'n'roll is a sad joke nowadays.
To be hoenst I thought Paul Rodgers fronting Queen was pretty disastrous! I'd rather see a good female soul singer like Adele or Duffy fronting Queen rather than some has been geezer with a croaky voice!
Music isn't about chops, or even about talent - it's about sound and the way that sound communicates to people. Mike Keneally
Opinions, opinions. I don't like the way his voice is now. great voice back in the day though. As for seeing him live or not..totally irrelevant. As for his shape....again totally irrelevant to what he sounds like.
Opinions indeed. He is one of the few who sound just about as damn good - if not better - than he did in his "prime"!
Back on point, I enjoyed "Nearvana". I thought it was a lot of fun, and that new song is definitely a rocker that fits nicely in the Helter Skelter/I Want You/Yer Blues category. Great show altogether for the most part.
I know where you're coming from. For me too I prefer certain singers now over the voice they had at the start of their careers, for example, Morrissey, Neil Young, Nick Lowe, Elvis Costello.
Conversely I can't listen to the current work of some singers who I liked early on in their careers, for example, Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, David Bowie,
I had thought Sir Paul's voice was fairly shot at this point.
I stand corrected.
Ok- question for 'guitar people'- what the fuck *was* that Bo Diddley-lookin' guitar Paul was using??
Any comments on the final result? I never liked Nirvana, so I wasn't expecting much from this "reunion". Damn, Paul rocked like someone half his age! And he was really wailing on guitar. A shame the camera work seemed to focus on the Nirvana guy who was mostly playing rhythm. Very cool seeing this, if you ask me.
