STS9 Jam Band Electro-Prog
I caught STS9 (Sound Tribe Sector 9) this past week and was kind of surprised at the audience. I don't think there was anybody over 30 there except me. Why that surprised me is that their music seems perfect for prog rockers and jam band fans. It's predominantly instrumental music, played LIVE and has echoes of Pierre Moerlen era Gong, Ozric Tentacles, Medeski, Martin & Wood, Bundles-era Soft Machine. But the audience looked more like a EDM rave crowd and the band certainly taps into that energy and groove. They've been around since the late 90s and filled a medium-size venue (Philly's Tower Theater), but I'm wondering why that audience isn't us.

Here's a pretty good live video.
