Listening to the new album now for the second time in a row.
Its a winner! Too early for 'masterpiece' claims....but damn!
And whoever is looking for 'uplifting' music in these times of crisis...GO AWAY!!

Interesting artifact that I'd all but forgotten; Simon S. played drums on an early demo by Landberk called "Tillbaka".
Truly a versatile kind of musician who should truly be far better known.

I blame Wynton, what was the question?

^ Man. Waiting for this to show up.
I’m a massive fan of both these guys so the thought of a collaboration with the added bonus of Agren is a dream.
Its clearly a Simon Steensland to album but different. It sounds more varied and richer orchestrated. On top of that there are some great guitar riffs and really wonderfull rhythmic things.
Its Simon Steensland XXL

I never heared anything by JG Thirlwell.
Foetus is a familiar name but I do not think I have heared any.
What would be a good place to start?
Damp from 2006; a compilation displaying his/their transition from full-on 90s industrial art-noise unto more eclectic confugurations of "song". And it's pretty easy to come by in physical format.
During the 90s his/their releases were almost ubiquitous here in Norway. He achieved a kind of cult stardom, I suppose, but as with, for instance, David Lee Myers (Arcane Device) or Edward Ka-Spel (Legendary Pink Dots) or Mark Stewart (The Pop Group) much of Thirwell's stuff was very obviously too musically challenging for some "noise" buffs to claim it as their own. It can be seemingly chaotic yet also highly refined.

Magma, Univers Zero, Present, Thinking Plague touches on his collaboration with Foetus.
On the 2020 annual top list!
Dear lord. This Thirlwell/ Steensland album is ridiculously good. A total marriage of their two composition styles, Thirlwell’s production and mix is just sensational.
Absolutely magnificent.
It's a very powerful and well executed project. Still, it comes a bit same-y during its considerable length - in terms of overall atmosphere. I also don't hear anything really groundbreaking in there. So no masterpiece, but still an excellent effort and an essential listen.
A stunning work. Wow! Will probably be in the top ten best prog releases of 2020. Congrats to the duo! Big

Pura Vida!.

Duke Ellington.
^^^Ahhh. I think that I got confused and thought that it was a separate collaboration with Foetus that contained the above Magma, Univers Zero, Prestent and Thinking Plague references. Not the new Thirlwell one.

RIO solo-artist from Sweden with many guests. This most well-known album from this artist's really is a must-have. Have a look at the excellent first passionate-precise review there in PA. Every instrument (e.g. winds, french harmonica) is perfectly merged with another at first, just wait for any voice and Rick-Wakeman-retro ambiance-piano -like to bring you to heaven. Fans of univers Zero and others will just right fall in love with that one. Many bass-led classical instruments will bass-led lead to high-pitched-chorus leading to tense moments leading to some other gem moments, escalating to better ones. HIGHly recommended. This is exponential magnificence. 17:17's The idiot ending track is a freakin hit. Don't expect it to get to an end. Drama, awesome intricate rhythms and thick sounds.
Apparently he's playing bass on the new Mike Johnson (Thinking Plague) new solo album.
