Antique Seeking Nuns - I'm not sure they are even religious
Hamster Theater - I saw no animal performers when I saw them
Dead Can Dance - pretty sure they can't
Zombi - not at all undead
Stars In Battledress - relatively obscure with no uniforms in sight
The Aristocrats - none are members of the nobility

Never having seen either band "in the flesh", with or without clothes, I can't answer that.

I guess my theme of misleading band names was that the name COULD potentially describe a real band, but is falsely applied to the band in question. I admit "!0,000 maniacs" was a bit of a stretch.

Some more bandnames that COULD be true if you didn't know better:

Pink Floyd (The guys probably are in fact pink, but there was no Floyd in the band)
Birds of Tokyo (not birds even in the slang sense, and not Japanese)
Dire Straits (Last I heard they were doing very well for themselves)
Muse (I guess this one is a matter of opinion, but they are certainly not MY muse)

How about band names that are EXACTLY accurate? Just for shhitts & giggles
Bands only of course, I say that to prevent any eejits that thought listing individual performers would be fun....it wouldn't

That said, feel free to list performers in their own right who don't use their given names, i.e have adopted full stage names e.g. Elton John, Alice Cooper, Cliff Richard, Alvin Stardust.

    Exactly correct:
    Simon & Garfunkel
    Peter, Paul & Mary
    Peter & Gordon
The Dubliners - last I checked they all were.
    The Carter Family
The Band - yes, they are a band.

And so on...man, that could be a really long list

Nope fail. As you say, they are "A" band, not "The" only band.

In fact, the same has to hold true for The Carter Family. I know a Carter family, so they can't be the only ones.

    You are 100% correct.
However, on stage on any given night the MC would say "now here come the band"

Taipuva Luotisuora has skipped a lot.

    I (2005)
    II (2006)
    IV (2009)
    8 (2013)

    That doesn't make it right.

    The Cowsills
The Ramones (admittedly only because they changed their individual names to fit the band name)
    Chad & Jeremy (I think - haven't checked)
Peter, Bjorn & John (see above)
The Irish Rovers (inasmuch as they were from Canada, they roved a long way from ireland)

Also, believe it or not, there is a band based here in Perth called... Perth.

I have another idea for a thread topic:

"PE threads where the discussion evolved into somethihng totally different from the original topic."

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------

    I have another idea:

"PE threads that are self-referential, i.e. they describe themselves."

This would be one such thread.

Indeed, so on that note how about a thread entitled: "Thread titles that contain six words"

Man, this is getting way deep.......
We'll be counting reflections in opposite mirrors soon, then it's only a short hop, skip & a jump to the men in white coats, tight jackets and rubber rooms
