I am familiar with the one half of that duo - Kate Micucci - she performed this Kansas classic with Ted's acapella group on an episode of Scrubs:

I've seen several of their "routines" -- they're more than just "songs" aren't they? Very clever and they get to the heart of the angst people don't usually express so openly. I'm always just astonished at how many words they memorize and deliver so seemingly spontaneously.

They are pretty brilliant in their lyric imagery, wit, and density. I usually have to watch/listen to a tune a few times to get all the references/jokes, lol. A great example:

Poor Art. He never gets his due credit for those wonderful vocal arrangements.

    "Satan's Doorbell"

They make edgy seem effortless. Super, er, tight vocal harmonies, and a wicked wit...

Their writing and stage personas are formidable indeed!

To me, other than the difference between "all ages" and "adult" writing, they are the "children" of people like Stan Freberg & Tom Lehrer.
