Trap The Spark is a delicate song I've seldom heard mentioned.

    I love it too!

I probably posted this one earlier, but since this thread is in its second life:

    One Fine Day

Also, when Marillion covers "Abraham, Martin, and John"

I'm no Marillion expert but I'll say "This Town" from Holidays In Eden.

“This Town” isn’t a favorite of mine, but I like the rest of that “suite” of songs a lot.

I've grown to pretty much dislike the whole suite, for some reason. I guess stacked up against the rest of their work, it just doesn't hold up for me. Love the rest of the album, though.

Well, it's only two songs isn't it?

Anyway, from that same album dry land and how can it hurt are great too (imo).

So why did "Eric" not get more development? Anyone with the scoop? Or was it really a throwaway to showcase the gloves ...

A Few Words for the Dead took a while to grow on me. I think the 2013 remix really helped me with the entire album.

I love the tune as well but only OG mix for me.
    Good choice tho!

I also very much prefer the OG mix of Radiation. Always liked the album!

Yeah, they made some changes to some of the songs in the Radiation remix that I was not thrilled about, but fortunately the package also included the original mix so I didn't have to hang on to the old one.

The original mix of Radiation always sounded a bit weird to me, and I think it kept me from appreciating the music. The remix brought out things in those songs that I hadn't noticed before and it was almost like hearing those songs for the first time again somehow. Radiation seems to be one of their more overlooked records if I remember correctly (it has been a decade or more probably since I hung out on the official Marillion forum).

I've stated before my real appreciation for the OG mix - some albums have distinctive unique one of a kind 'ambience' or sound or mix. Radiation is one.

An analogous example: Black Sabbath - Born Again.

There truly was no need, again IMO, and the money could have been spent more effectively elsewhere .

The only problem I had with the original Radiation is that the album is the song Now She’ll Never Know is so quiet I always had to crank the volume up for that one song. I believe that wasn’t an issue on the remix. I’ve never analyzed the differences much.

I can't say whether the problem was the mix or production, or the material itself, but Radiation has long been my least favorite Marillion album. I felt like they were aping Radiohead on that one, and I'm not much of a Radiohead fan.

I like the album, but if I ranked all the Marillion albums, this one would be at the bottom slot. (I count Less Is More as a studio album, as does the band, but I don't count With Friends from the Orchestra as a full, unique studio album, which the band does.)

BTW, I ordered a boatload of new Marillion and related stuff about a week ago:

    - pre-ordered the upcoming live discstravaganza from Marillion Weekend 20?? in I think Port Zelande.
    - DVD of Steve Hogarth Christmas livestream from 2022
    - 2CD making of Sounds That Can't Be Made
    - 2CD making of F.E.A.R.

Let me know what you think about the Hogarth DVD. I was motivated to go the Racket Records and pick up this DVD: XXI - Best Of The Weekends Blu-ray

I didn’t know about this. I see this has some tracks from the 2022 weekends which are songs from An Hour Before It’s Dark. I don’t think these tracks have been released anywhere else, at least in video form. Dang.
