We're trying to build a monument to show that we were here
It won't be visible through the air
And there won't be any shade to cool the monument to prove that we were here. - Gene Parsons, 1973
Ana Torres from Universal Totem Orchestra. Highly recommended, very very unique in a very very good way. Start with Mathematical Mother

I would like to humbly put forth my good friend and bandmate in several bands, Jennifer Weich. She isn't Farpoint's only lead singer, but she usually sings lead on a couple songs per album. She's also a talented flautist and keyboardist.

Somewhat little-known greats, especially CK and SS and KC (youtubers):
For rock vocal: Sandra Szabo, Chez Kane, Netta Laurenne, Asha Blaine, Karly C
(SS, KC, NL for especially suited gritty vocals).
For general (not necessarily rock): Rachael Hawnt
SS and CK each do Benatar's Heartbreaker:

SS and CK each do Blondie's Call Me

AB and NL each do a Malmsteen tune.

For rock sometimes Karly C gives it an r&b vocal styling while the band is rocking. Either way, excellent.
From what I saw, all of these vocalists have great vocal control and are almost never off-pitch (an exception: CK has uploaded that Kate Bush tune which I think was a really weak performance, disappointing), and some don't always sing covers note-for-note.
Mentioned in thread but the various singers in Solstice. Just discovered this band earlier this year.
Females are as many as the rest, and the OP let the non-prog in (by including Ann Wilson and Benatar) into the regular/non-OT area – so, in scope technically this thread is half as huge as what a thread titled "lead singers" would be. Huge. I see it has only moved 8 pages in 10 years, the same number of pages it has taken another thread, sort of essentially only about what the "glory years" of Genesis means, only 2 months. :-))) Not exactly trying to make this thread bigger, since even the current 8 pages full of vocalist names would probably take me into the distant future to sample songs from – but I think I've found a thread it's almost effortless to post in from time to time, since only the surface has been scratched so far. So, here's yet another entry from me, having noticed someone has written here about a vocalist from Poland:
TULIA
I only heard their album seen here

A singer who had a brief time in the spotlight, and who did session work with David Bowie on Aladdin Sane and a few Cat Stevens albums is Linda Lewis. she was a quite handy songwriter and I would hazard she was an influence on Jon Armatrading and Tracy Chapman.
