“Three Sides Live” was filmed in November 1981 on the “Abacab” tour in North America and was originally released on VHS to coincide with the live album of the same name. It has only ever been released on DVD in the limited edition box set “The Movie Box 1981-2007”. Originally filmed in 16mm, the footage has now been fully restored and is being reissued as a standalone DVD and Blu-ray for the first time. The show focuses on tracks from the “Duke” and “Abacab” albums and the tracks are intercut with behind the scenes footage and interviews with the band members. As ever with Genesis, the show is visually stunning and it captures the band in their transition from their progressive days in the seventies through to the hugely successful pop/rock act they became from the mid-eighties onwards. Genesis have always been great live performers and “Three Sides Live” is a great addition to any fans collection.

This thread is taking an ugly turn into a "whatever happened to" thread.
Seven Homes By The Sea

Scenes From A Moonlit Knight's Dream
Behind The Shorelines
Namidominonu
I Know What I Like It Or Not
A Trick Of The Tale (okay, that one's pretty damn obscure )

"Improvisation is not an excuse for musical laziness" - Fred Frith
"[...] things that we never dreamed of doing in Crimson or in any band that I've been in," - Tony Levin speaking of SGM
I heard it's a new tour with the standard Phil, Tony, & Mike. But with Jason Bonham on drums.
It's official - the R-kive 37 track compilation spanning some of the solo output. Big deal.
The comments on their Facebook page about the "huge" announcement are as you would expect -- mostly negative and mocking in tone. You figure that a bunch of musicians in contact with each other while working on a documentary would have sparked some talk of new music. Just a couple of new songs from the five piece would have been enough to get the fans crazed in a positive way. Seriously a tone-deaf group of people.
3 CD best of "R-Kive" release with selections from Genesis proper as well as Phil, Peter, Mike, Tony, Steve solo material. BORING
^ Good point.
I've got a bike you can ride it if you like
Who is it aimed at though? What person of the correct generation is saying holy crap, I love this stuff but don't own a single cd by any of the people involved and now I can buy it all at one time? Obviously plenty or they wouldn't be releasing it.
Or you could download track by track (or preview then choose your tailored selections) from your favoured download site.
Smacks of record company cash-in to me. It still seems "odd" otherwise.
However, the PR side of this has been badly handled. To herald "big" announcements and get fans hopes up, only to deliver old product is taking the piss. If TOny Smith signed off on this, he needs to take a reality check.
Here's the tracklist:

Seems like it would make more sense to make this three separate releases. Then, don't bother making the first one.
A missed opportunity in every respect. Should have at least included one Phillips/Collins track from Geese (or Silver Song!). C'mon! But really, I can't picture anybody buying this, the most expensive Genesis CD in the CD store (if there still exists such a store).
As an idea for a compilation, I actually kind of like it. I would've included three songs by Ant at least and probably by Ray as well, but whatever.
I don't see that I really have any reason to buy it myself, though, as I believe I own everything except the Mike and the Mechanics track.
Well actually there is some exciting Genesis news today. Steve Hackett guests on the track Morpheus from the soon to be released Steve Rothery album "The Ghosts of Pripyat" and Rothery has just made the song available for a free download.
https://steverothery.bandcamp.com/track/morpheus-2
I believe this completely trumps the official exciting news.
