    What's your Modern-day Supper's Ready/Close to the Edge/insert epic track here?

We all probably have our favorites among what used to be called side-length epic prog tracks from the good old days (for me it's Supper's Ready), but I've often wondered what prog tracks of 20 minutes or more from the past 10-15 years others consider the more modern equivalents of those classics?

I'll vote for Harvest of Souls by IQ. What others, folks?

    Frost's 'Milliontown'
But also quite a few Spock's Beard / Neal Morse / Transatlantic / Moon Safari
Quite liked DeeExpus's 'King of Number 33'.
Sure there's plenty more. These days I'm listening to more 'modern' prog than old-school stuff.

"The Great Nothing." Didn't seem so remarkable when I first heard it, but really scratches all of the itches.
"Stranger in Your Soul." This one DID seem remarkable and was instrumental in my prog renaissance. Seeing this performed in NYC in 2010 was a peak experience.

Seconded. It's the one recent epic I've heard that absolutely stands up to any "classic-era" epic, and outdoes many of them.

Also the one I'm currently writing. Simply because it's my own music, although I don't think it will be on Mei's level as regards quality. But very little is.

Nothing can top Close to the Edge ·Gates of Delirium or Karn Evil 9 but ,
    Transatlantic·The Whirlwind
Dream Theater -6 Degrees of Inner Turbulence
    &
The Flowerkings ·Garden of Dreams ...runs them close ¡

I've got two strikes against me, since I tend to like brevity (relatively speaking - 7 to 9 minutes seems to be my sweet spot) and I admittedly don't listen to a lot of the modern "proggy" bands. Throw in the fact that most modern epics that I've heard seem rather formulaic, and that leaves me scratching my head. However...

Thieves Kitchen does a nice job with their "sidelong" tracks - The Long Fianchetto and Chiovanni Rise both seem to be an appropriate length and maintain my interest over their duration.

Another one that comes to mind, which only clocks in around 11 minutes, would be Warrior by Univers Zero. For me, that one ranks up their with their finest compositions. Too short to be an epic, but it is certainly one of the "centerpiece" tracks on Clivages

Probably either Frost*'s "Milliontown" or Transatlantic's "Stranger in Your Soul." IQ's "Harvest of Souls" would be a contender, too.

    Lotsa good ones out there.

Octavarium is perhaps the only DT song I enjoy. How about E-re by Magma? Does it count?

Interesting. Although I'm a big fan of Echolyn and like all of their albums beginning with As the World, Mei is the one I've had the most trouble appreciating. Clearly I need to try harder

My personal choices for recent 'epics' would be Stranger In Your Soul and Knight of the North.

The entire 80+ minute album "The Death Defying Unicorn" by Motorpsycho, which yeah is a concept album but I listened to it all the way through several times without stopping - something that rarely happens for me these days. Plus this whole album treated as a single song is more cohesive than some prog epics which are just lesser ideas glommed together (see old Frankenprog thread).

Maybe not the most musically ambition epic ever, but THE LIGHT by Spock's Beard has always been a favorite of mine. It's just non-stop action packed, perfectly delivered, and chuck full of great melodies and segments that makes it so memorable.

While nothing tops the epics mentioned by the OP, I'm partial to:

    Ritual - The dangerous journey
Marillion - The invisible Man (Gaza is very strong too)
Transatlantic - The duel with the devil
    Unitopia - The Garden
    Echolyn - Mei
