The drums, the tambourine, and the bass guitar. Yes, that's right, most people don't realize it but at least during the instrumental after each verse, there's a bass guitar in the mix there.

Yup -- Bass Guitar layered on a Bass Synth.

Yes clone from the trailing edge of the prog boom. Their keysman was later responsible for the Teletubbies music!

I want to start a thread called "Videos that are so awesome that they are terrible" but I don't know what to put in it. Maybe Division Bell era Floyd or something.

I think the related "Great Song but Horrible Video" thread would certainly be do-able...... I'd start that one off with Donnie Iris' "Ah Leah"............

The thing that really gets me about Cars is the song is nearly 4 minutes long, and there's singing for only about 90 seconds, and then the rest of the track, including most of the last two minutes is instrumental. And I think it's last 90 seconds of the song (which doesn't sound like a long time, in pop music terms, it's forever) is just that riff looping over again and again. Very hypnotic.
Druid was a British progressive rock group, that made 2 albums. They could be considered as a kind of Yes-clone, though I don't like that word.

All those explosions during the instrumental bit at the end, before the final verse, weren't part of the planned shoot, but rather the German army firing mortar onto the artillery range (which was behind the band), "for laughs" or whatever. If you watch that bit very quickly you can see the band sort of fleeing the area. From what I gather, they weren't acting, they were seriously scared off by the weapons fire.

BTW, those first two Nena albums were pretty damn good records. Lots of good melodic hooks on those records. I play stuff off of them regularly on Journey Of The Sorcerer's Apprentice.

How can this thread be five pages long with no "Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)"?
