    Music file converter, advice

I'm not sure whether this is the right place to ask for advice on getting a bona fide progam for converting music from FLAC format to mp3? I recently bought a Marillion album off their website and stupidly opted for FLAC which is of course incompatible with iTunes. Then in an attempt to get a converter, downloaded something that added a lot of programs I didn't want and changed my web browser into French etc etc. I'd rather not pay for it as I can't see that I will be needing to use it again - next time I'll simply buy the CD and wait for it to be delivered. I'd be grateful for any suggestions.

There are lots of them, even free when you Google.
    Here is one http://www.freemake.com/how_to/convert_flac_to_mp3_free
I have no experience with this software, but it should be simple.

To convert, I use FreeRip, but I use WinAmp to listen, which can also play FLAC. WinAmp is no longer available through their site, but you might be able to use this link. Otherwise, I'm sure there are many different ways to get it from the Internet. It's worth seeking out - MUCH better than iTunes as a music player.

Haven't done any FLAC conversions but I use a freeware tool called ConverterLite and I'd be shocked if it couldn't handle FLAC, it does everything else.

I use flac.exe and lame.exe command line tools to encode and decode in a DOS box, but that's just me.

That's the one to get. No additional BS attached and it works like a charm.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll have a go, once I've sorted out the mess that was left on my computer through downloading that other conversion software.

No, it's not free. Very few great programs are free.
