Well, again, not exactly prog, but Trans-Siberian Orchestra used a children choir very effectively in A Star To Follow

Innocence and undying love will reign."

There's a track from the second Druid album where they apply a children's choir, but it isn't exactly too well done.

Very much on the obscure side, but there’s a song off of the Colis Postal album by the French band Laura with a children’s choir. Can’t remember the song title offhand, but the wee tykes’ job seems to be to sing “Enfant sage” (“wise child”) over and over again.

Collegium Musicum: "PF 1972" and then ten years later, "P.F. [1982, 1983,.....]". Different children, obviously.

Another marginal entry: "Silent Revolution", one of Eloy's decent tracks from one of their dreariest albums, Destination.

    It was "In Our Lives".

    Yeah, it was bad.

Generally speaking, children can't sing. There's a reason why recordings for children usually employ adults singing like children.

Has there ever been any information about who those kids are singing those lines?

No children there....That was the "St. Eleye Primary School" choir, aka Steeleye themselves.

If memory serves, it is the standard choir for most of the song but the kids come in later. But I will listen and get back to you.

Edit: I haven't listened yet but Wikipedia says that the organ was recorded at Charterhouse school (yes, where the Genesis lads went) and that the school's children choir joined in.

Edit #2: Yup. just drop the needle after the half-point and it is very clear...as composers for centuries have known, there is nothing like the sound of a male children's choir...the higher pitch of a female voice yet the stronger lungs of males to propel and project that pure sound.

I'll have to listen to the entire track to see if it is ONLY the children's choir or if it is blended with adults...

Methinks that it is ONLY the boys chorus.

It is such a beautiful track. The Strawbs were one of my favorites back in the 70's...I was fortunate enough to see them in 1977 in New Jersey (with Ambrosia as the back-up).

    Supertramp: "It's Raining Again"
    Kansas: "Taking in the View"

I think children's choirs work great when there's a logical reason for those particular lyrics to be sung by children, as there is in "Another Brick in the Wall," "Cheyenne Anthem," and "It's Raining Again."
