Guess I was a latecomer to the party. Moderators should merge the threads...
New Asia Minor album out (on AMS) and a very pleasant surprise. Setrak Bakirel's fluid guitar is always present, there's a lot of flute and the vocals have a central european new wave aura (see Flue...
Great to see you back.
The only Airbag album that caught my attention was their 2nd All Rights Removed. All the others went "meh" to my ears. Radio friendly muzak.
Very sad news... RIP.
This release adds nothing to the 2007 Eclectic Discs edition. Who needs a picture disc of Nik Turner holding a Coca Cola tin can anyway?
Probably there aren't, as in 2020 he has also released a new album as Ozric Tentacles.
He was already divorced when he released it.
It's all been done in the 80s. These arguments have been laid on table by countless avant prog/wave/electo/industrial/power electronics/post punk bands. Very boring to see that old debate emerging 30...
They said upon release, in 2013, that the previous boxed edition on Madfish was the "definite" release. And having listened to all the previous versions (cassettes, original box, 2in1) I tend to...
I have everything they released. Love them. Both their 2020 albums were very satisfactory. I slightly prefer Telemetric Sounds to this one; it has a darker more krautish edge and an angry urgency...

Monster Magnet supporting Metallica
Van Der Graaf Generator supporting Porcupine Tree
I exited on Sersophane. Not a fan of what followed.
A pioneering jazz drummer. Completely groundbreaking playing. Very sad day today.
Farewell to a giant of experimental songwriting. A visionary of a uniquely experimental yet deeply moving songwriting of universal character. One of a kind.
RIP Ghédalia Tazartès.

s/t (aka Wall of Dolls) is one of the greatest hard rock albums ever. Seven Tears is also excellent.
New Celeste sounds very, very promising...

Queen II
Thank God for being only 35 minutes long... Only Gillan saves it.
:lol :lol :lol
You released it?
Bollocks!
It is a good one. Not on my annual top list for 2020 but still a keeper.
Machine Head over In Rock but Fireball is the best Deep Purple to my ears.
:ipa
That's exactly what my friend had on VHS in 1988. Black 'n' white version though...
Correct, but somehow my friend had all these transferred to VHS somehow, in the late 80s. I remember having seen Sabbath, Atomic Rooster, Genesis, Van Der Graaf, Greatest Show on Earth, East of Eden,...
Maddy Prior, prog????!!!!
Any list not including Krause, Stratos, Di Giacomo, Decamps, Surkamp, Knaup, Rumpf shows limited appreciation of the genre.
Van Halen's first three albums and Guns N' Roses debut. Nothing more from both.
He was the type of abuser the world would be a better place without him.
Good riddance!
Dome were full of invention and interesting experimental twists on the electronic krautrock formula. Duet Emmo is also another excellent collaboration of theirs.
Sad news... We'll miss him.
Excellent series of albums with the 3rd one considered as classic by my ears.
I'm exactly the other way round on these ones.
Yes... I own that issue. Was reading it yesterday as I paid my respects.
And this was their most interesting period to my ears. I ended giving away everything else they did before of after that era, with the exception of Phanerothyme and It's A Love Cult.
Very sad day for me. Loved the TREES.

A solid 13.
Never liked it that much. Even upon release. It has many boring moments and filler to my ears.
On The Sunday Of Life...
Have Come For Your Children
Grace for Drowning
Up The Downstairs
Death Defying Unicorn
Listened to a couple of tracks while sampled at their demo phase and they sounnded very good. Their new vocalist suits them greatly.
I prefer Grand Sbam's debut to Furvent, but in comparison to the releases from 2020 I've listened to, it topped the annual list.
Have a happy New Year!
It definitely surpasses Wobbler.
ART ZOYD "Phase IV" back in 1983.
PS. I was already familiar with Van der Graaf, Magma and the Residents.
A really good one but didn't top my list because it is very, very long. Their inspiration is not enough to keep the interest undiminished for the duration of three records. Had it been a single LP it...
I'm split between Ak'chamel, the Giver Of Illness The Totemist and Le Grand Sbam Furvent for my personal best album of 2020.
Danny Thompson's subtle jazz feel applied on his bass playing, is unique on this one.
For me it was a major deception of generic post Floydian snoozefest.
One of the most substantially daring modern heavy rock bands. A fan since their debut.
Huge as a mountain!
I thoroughly enjoyed this one though I'd prefer it a little shorter. A most welcomed comeback.
Top of my 2020 list as far as sympho prog goes.
The Oak Of The Golden Dreams, The Pavilion Of Dreams, The Serpent (In Quicksilver), The Plateaux Of Mirror (with Eno) and Abandoned Cities are his favourite works of mine. Spent hours and hours of...
Hi Meidad,
No, unfortunately CDs are dead and gone...
The sad thing is that they do not seem to have any resale value (out of a very few collectables).
The series of albums up and including LP5 are all very interesting. Amber in particular is a masterpiece of modern electronica. In the 00s I lost interest, they sound to my ears very stuck in the...
If left with the choice of only one album, I'll opt for their debut after all these years. Missa Universalis is their last OK effort in my opinion.
Yes, I have. To me only Lifeblud and Anaconda are worth the effort. Sandalwood is pleasant to my ears but no more than that.
Exactly!
Quality-wise, I fear they're scratching the bottom of the barrel with the things they release. Better if they left most of them burried in the sands of time, if you want my opinion.
I doubt Ken, that such an effort will even the cost. They're not considered a "holy grail" of the genre and the interest for progressive rock reissues is limited nowadays.
