Like Pink Floyd and Syd Barrett too.
You would have thought one of the members would have contacted Muir at the time to see he was OK?
The makers say the participants are:
Pye Hastings & Geoffrey Richardson (Caravan)
Dirk "Mont" Campbell (Uriel, Egg)
Brian Hopper (Wilde Flowers, Zobe)
David Sinclair (Caravan, Hatfield and The...
Yep. So often it boils down to 'musical differences' anyway - calyx's post about Mike Ratledge's reason for leaving could almost be summed up in those two words. More fruitful to reflect on the...
Agreed. On your first point, interviews given back in the day are far more likely to be accurate than the recollections of 35 years later. Few people in their mid to late sixties are blessed with the...
As well as being pointlessly insulting, such remarks demonstrate a strange sense of entitlement - "I bought your records, now you owe me / us." Robert Fripp describes this phenomenon as 'consumer...
Frank Zappa said:
"Being interviewed is one of the most abnormal things that you can do to somebody else. It's two steps removed from the Inquisition."
and (in TV interview)
Interviewer:...
Maybe you're mistaking boredom for pain. As calyx pointed out, if you've already told the story over and over again in countless interviews, sleeve notes etc etc, there's probably no incentive to...
I'm with Steve F. on that one.
From what I read, it seems Stewart gets on pretty well with his old bandmates. However he and Mr. Ratledge feel about the music, maybe they just got bored of talking about what they did 40-45 years...
With all due respect Mr. F., if it's not about money, why give your opinion on musicians financial situations?
Yeah sorry, I didn't mean to imply thay're greedy or anything like that. Would be nice of the musicians got paid though, some of these guys have been badly ripped off by record companies.
Of course, but as this is a commercial product which wouldn't exist without musician input, I would have thought some kind of fee would be involved? So maybe it wasn't big enough, or there was some...
That's too bad. Anyone know if they were offered a fee? How much does this DVD cost anyway?
Yes, though I didn't follow the forum links. My source for the 'same solos every night' request is Bill Bruford - The Autobiography, in which Bruford (speaking on p. 111 about the band UK), states:
...
I think all this talk about whether Bill Bruford "can play jazz" kind of misses the point. He is above all a thinking and creative musician who prizes originality, which means that, much as he...
Maybe he doesn't know about THE FUZZBOX!
I believe you're mistaken. What is the other make of organ you imagine Stewart and Sinclair played, and where is your evidence?
As most people here probably know, the original King Crimson original line-up (1969) was Robert Fripp, Michael Giles, Greg Lake and Ian McDonald. 44 years later, we now have the prospect of a "King...
Sounds like a tribute band to me.
I hate Spotify more because the musicians get paid virtually nothing. At least with iTunes artists get paid something in the ballpark of an old-style royalty.
One listener's opinion. Here's another (posted on the Head Heritage site under the monicker of Venus Willendorf):
One man's meat, etc.
Good point Mr. Scissor. I reckon the sound collage titled Boilk :) makes more sense when you consider the psychedelic background of the Uriel musicians. In the sleeve notes of Arzachel Collectors...
Most Arzachel CDs are bootlegs. The only official band release is the Arzachel Collectors Edition CD, available worldwide at www.burningshed.com/store/eggarchive/. US buyers should select the 'USA'...
You're not missing anything. The two archival CDs are Arzachel Collectors Edition by Uriel (the three Egg guys with guitarist Steve Hillage) and The Metronomical Society by Egg.
Definitely a good read - it supplements the sleeve notes in the two archive CDs released by the band.

Sam Alder, then Bill Bruford's manager; now Robert Fripp's number one hate figure.
Sounds to me like he just sang it falsetto.
Keith Emerson
Mike Ratledge
Dave Sinclair
Peter Robinson
Brian Auger
Another bitter marital break-up. Very sad regardless who it happens to, but I don't get it - why would anyone in this position want to share this info with thousands of strangers?
"Is Steven Wilson becoming Uncle Frank... ?"
Essentially, no - it's a spurious comparison. The only thing they have in common is the wherewithal and confidence to hire good players.
I'm surprised that you would suggest that this intelligent woman, who consistently displays a level of ethical awareness which puts most record companies to shame, would publicly lie about the...
>For this reason I took it into my own hands to make some of Dave's beautiful tracks available for listening purposes in lower quality. I am going to contact Dave to check if he doesn't mind if I...
A pity that a well-deserved plug for the genius of Allan Holdsworth had to be tainted by dragging in Clapton's disgusting views. Not saying that the latter point should be hushed up, but wouldn't it...
Pat & Bob Fripp, future icons of the entertainment industry.
Quatermass had a great keyboard player, one of the best of the era. Had the band continued for a few more years I'm sure he would be ranked nowadays with Emerson & Wakeman.
One reason artists might decide not to sell through iTunes is that Apple don't negotiate - you either accept their deal (which isn't great) or lump it. Robert Fripp is not the sort of person you...
The band was originally called Uriel - they had the name 'Egg' foisted on them by two idiot managers who were offering them regular live work.
The studio albums are musically good but don't quite...
According to Wikipedia, yes it was. But it hasn't been available on CD for many years as far as I know, possibly because of some dispute about recording rights.
The Magic Band were never paid a cent in royalties on Trout Mask Replica or Decals. Don Vliet got all the publishing revenue. It would be nice to see that rectified on this re-release, especially...
Jeff Berlin (Bruford band)
Got this info from a reliable source who used to work with the band:
1979 Bruford US summer tour
August 14 Austin Armadillo World HQ
August 15 Dallas Palladium
August 16 Houston Opry House
...
Saw them at The Roundhouse in the late '60s - they were brilliant.
