I think Side 1 of Pompeii is pretty good stuff. Side 2 gets a bit wonky though.

What a beautiful package. This is done just perfectly. So pleased. I don’t think I’ll ever listen to Side 4 more than once, but it’s nice to have as a novelty.
I love seeing this displayed as it...
Anybody else get their 2-LP set today?
Nice list. You should add Il Paese Dei Balocchi to it.
Absolutely
1977’s “Even in the Quietest Moments” album is their best imo.
It’s a shame to think such thoughtful, wonderful, high-quality music could ever be forgotten and dismissed.
I can’t believe there’s a court case against Roger Hodgson from the members of Supertramp, but Rick Davies is not involved!
It’s available on Cd too. 👍
Yeah the release date has always been confusing because the album has a copyright date of 1973.
Btw, thanks for the great review!
The download that came with the vinyl issue. Sounds even better with less compression.
Funny though, the compression database says that Clockwork Angels vinyl has less compression than Snakes and...
I wonder which bits those are?
That’s funny that you mentioned that Flower Kings album in particular. Because I listened to it last night for the first time in quite a while and I thought “Garden of Dreams” was just perfect...
Except the booklets in the 1994 remasters contain an advertisement in the center spread which is an eyesore. The best of both worlds are the 1991 Japanese VJCP releases which contain the original...
The original 1999 version of Flower Power has horribly compressed mastering. A real shame.
The 1994 remasters are terrible as well, but for a different reason. Many of them use a heavy dose of noise-reduction. Yuck. The original 1980’s Cd’s are better in every instance.
That makes sense. You also hate the music on Nursery Cryme.
Reading some of these posts, I can’t imagine not only cataloguing my collection, but downloading it all onto my computer. That would be an absolutely herculean task. I have at least 10,000 LPs and...
Correct. And good evidence that they should’ve stuck with the 36-minute format ha ha
36 minutes
But they did have a studio album in 1973 that was 74 min.
Whoops, I didn’t see it on the list.
And although technically Bacamarte is a 1983 album, as that was the year of release, I believe it was actually recorded in 1978.
Bacamarte - Depois de Fim
I like the flute overdub version in a few spots, but overall the guitar is so much more powerful and cutting in the Steven Wilson remix, and of course the lack of reverb and noise reduction is also a...
Absolutely fantastic news!

I agree, but also parts of Waiting For Miracles.
I’m guessing he means all of the rock that was selling in large quantities and/or on the charts.
Cool! I’ll have to check it out. I do like the dynamics at least of that original 1992 CD. Wing Beat Fantastic was totally squashed so I hope it isn’t as compressed as that one.
Or better yet, re-record the whole thing, so it doesn’t sound like crap.
It is a nice sentiment, I agree. But it’s also not very hard to feel that way about your daughter when she’s a young child. Wait till she’s a teenager and adult and then Frank has to deal with an...
A wonderful album. The epic “Death-Watch-Beetle” is mesmerizing, and an absolute treat!
Yes, that really is a wonderful epic song.
What did the remastering entail?
It’s a good thing Frank was famous or his wife definitely wouldn’t have done that for her musician husband! Ha Ha
That’s good for us, the fans of his music. But it’s sad that he had a life without intimate relationships and connecting with others on an important human level. Seems for Frank, music was always...
It’s well-known that Zappa had carefree sex with scores of young ladies throughout his marriage. Gail was well aware and understood the arrangement, even though she didn’t like it.
Awesome
Have you heard Detroit March
1974?
I think their brand of jazz fusion definitely falls under the prog banner. Prog doesn't always mean symphonic prog. And yes, I think “Butterfly/The Road Back Home” is absolutely the high point of the...
Circus and Counterpoints are almost 100% prog, so those are the two to get. It’s unfortunate that those are the two which are difficult to find. Encore is also good but does include a few clunkers,...
Holy moly 6 minutes! I’m very familiar with this album, my favorite from Sancious. I’ve had the Japanese Tachika cd for years. I can’t imagine it being so much slower that it would add that much...
Ya, but both LP versions have the tracklist in a different order.
Ya the 2017 UTF omits “Soul Vortex” and the 2023 UTF omits “Too Late For Tomatoes.” And they each have a jumbled tracklisting in a different order from each other.
That earlier LP set does not feature all unaltered songs. It also has remixes, including a remix of “The Truth Will Set You Free.”
I think Roger’s first and last solo albums are absolutely terrific.

Although a magnificent singer, songwriter and musician, Hall the person is a douche.
:)
That happened to me too in 1994 when I met Howe at an acoustic show. Afterwards, I wondered how all the other famous musicians in the world were able to shake hands and still earn a living.
I agree about "One Night in Paris." It's a mostly tuneless mess of pretentious doodlings imo.
"Feel The Benefit" is epic and delivers a punch.
Wow, I think "Marriage Bureau Rendezvous" is one of the absolute highlights of the 10cc catalog. Such an enjoyably inventive and wonderfully melodic song.
They made their masterpiece “Feel The Benefit” without Godley and Creme. And as an American, I never heard the song “Dreadlock Holiday” until I picked up the Bloody Tourists album a few years ago....
Does Caravan actually do “Golf Girl” live without Richard Sinclair?
Yes, it does appear that way.
However it seemed that for the entire decade of the 1990’s Selling England By The Pound was thought of as clearly Genesis’ pinnacle. That has since been reassessed by...
I thought for sure it would have The Remembering or To Be Over. I’m disappointed.
It’s not a guess, it’s fact. Nick Davis already talked about the compression he felt was necessary in his mixes.
Yes, but it was Nick Davis who added compression during the mixing process. That is why he is to blame for that whole mess.
My favorite Van Der Graaf Generator album, tied with Pawn Hearts. “Killer” is actually my least favorite song on the album.
Yeah, I don’t know why they didn’t include the full version of Pigs On The Wing. I think it’s pretty cool myself. Fortunately, I have it on this Cd.
...
My wife bought one for me at the market. And she was tickled to do so. $13.99. However, I discovered that it’s an edited version for the US market, 100 pages as opposed to the British version which I...
“That, That Is” and “Bring Me To The Power” are both high quality pieces. The other Keys stuff is nothing special.
